Banner image not saving!

My site will not save my banner image!

I noticed that my site kept defaulting to an earlier (and very similar) banner image that I had uploaded, so I deleted the original image in the file manager hoping this would solve the problem. Now, every time I try to save the new image, it uploads initially, then disappears completely when the page is refreshed!

Please help!

Hello Kelly,

The first thing recommended is to clear your browser cache as there may be some redundant information held in there. This often clears such issues. Hopefully this will get you going again.

Hello Kelly

If Gop's suggestion doesn't help, please set your banner image back to default and then try to add your new banner image again:
  1. In the lower menu bar of your Yola Sitebuilder, click on "Style".

  2. Click on the "Edit banner" button on the right-hand side.

  3. In the bottom right corner, check "Apply to all pages".

  4. Click on "Use default".

  5. Close the dialogue box and start again at step no. 1, adding your new banner image this time.

Please let us know if the problem should persist and provide your domain name or login e-mail to your Yola account. Thanks.

Hi guys, thanks for your replies (and sorry for the delay in responding)!

I tried clearing my cache and resetting to the default image... Neither fixed the issue. I'm thinking there must be something funky going on in my edited css, but I can't figure out what.

I haven't yet published my site, but my domain name is thefixacupuncture.com.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Kelly,

It will be a small problem I bet but either hiding under a layer of gossamer or totally buried in cement. :)

I can't help you with an unpublished site but I can if you would publish your site even to a sub-domain and let me know. You can unpublish it after hopefully fixing it.

Up to you of course but I certainly wouldn't worry about short exposure no-one will see it that' it's likely to be aimed at. Indexing often takes several weeks.

Thanks for publishing kelly.

The banner I see is: url("templates/InteriorDesign/resources/images/banner.jpg");

Is this the name you have given it or is this the default name that keeps coming back?

If you are using the default name then I would be tempted to change the name to something else and see if this separates the problem?

That is the default banner. The one I'm trying to use is named "yola banner (short).jpg".

I think it's the name Kelly. the brackets are invalid characters for the file manager. Rename it yola-banner-short.jpg and let me know when it's ready or otherwise .

Ok, weird... I just took a look at the site that's published and that's a WAY earlier version. It should've never been published at that point.

I just updated it with the new (no banner) one that I've been working with.

Oiii!!

That sounds like a server issue. This has happened previously where long past versions have come back. My only thought on this is that they are doing a big release tomorrow and probably (certainly) a lot of intensive work at the moment. I noticed a lag with the sitebuilder and this fits.

Do a refresh and see if it's still there?

Kelly,

If it's driving you to distraction (or not) you are welcome to send me the image with it's filename as you have labelled it and I can try to upload it to a copy of Modern Interiors that I can do by chnaging styles on a test site.

You can do this one of two ways:

happy to do this and it's no great effort to me. Gop.

Finally got this fixed!

For the benefit of anyone else having a similar issue, I finally realized that I edited the CSS for the banner in order to change its size, but then didn't go back and change the image location in the "_behavior" section after I changed the image itself.

Lesson: If you're going to use an easy Yola provided way to change something for which you've already edited code, you're going to have to go back and change your code as well!

Thanks for everyone's help on this issue!
