banner problems

I have problems with my banners. I am using Numerology template and I changed the banners with pictures that are more appropriate for my website. I have discovered that for every banner I upload the File manager automatically saves a smaller size one. Later on, I wanted to "arrange" some of them with Picknik so I chose the smaller size ones from my File Manager and edited them. Now after changing the banners with the new small size edited ones I saw that even if the banners look normal on my laptop, they look very poor (pixelate) on my husband's new laptop. I am confused because I do not know if I did something wrong. I tried to change my newly edited banner (small sized ones with the uploaded big size banners but uploading does not work. Why?

Hi Dana,
Sorry for the late reply, you must have slipped through the net.

Try to do it this way instead.

Go straight to your filemanager and upload the original image. (i.e. dont just click the 'change banner' link.

Now you have the original image in the file manager, you can edit this with picnik without any loss of quality from resizing.

Now click an empty part of the editor page and from the sidebar go to properties then scroll down and click the box next to the field 'banner image'.

This will add the original image to the banner space.

If you then go to 'edit banner' you will be able to resize it, this will save another copy of the banner (the edited version) but the original will always still be in the file manager.

Hope this helps.

Lee.

Dana... I wonder if you have the latest flash version installed on your computer? This may attribute to the problems you're experiencing with your file manager and photos. To check to see what version you are using, try this link: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC...

Sometimes errors occur and I am forced to close teh site builder and reopen again...All these since last week...I do not know what to think..Is it Yola?

I'm not sure dana. I would make Yola staff aware of this. I would ask them about your version of flash and if its compatible with Yola. I know I'm having some issues as well. Hopefully the more people tell them of these problems, the better they'll able to pinpoint the cause of these problems and whether or not its on our end or their end.

Hi Dana,

First let's look at the problem you are having with the site builder and Preview Page, can you do a few things for me:

1. Clear your browser's cache. This link has more information: Clear your browser's cache.

2. Check your privacy settings. You must accept cookies from Yola. Please click on this link to find instructions for accepting cookies with your browser: Accept cookies.

3. Check that your browser is set to enable Javascript. This link has more information on how to check: Enable Javascript.

4. Are you using Internet Explorer, can you try loading the site in a different browser (eg. Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer). We would suggest using the Firefox browser as this browser seems to work best in the Yola environment. It is a free download if you would like to give it a try: Download Firefox.

Now the problem that you are having with your banner, can you upload the banner image you are trying to use so that we can take a look at it. When you say that you were trying to arrange the images, do you mean that you were trying to put multiple small images in the banner image area?
