The banner template that I am using is too wide. How can I make it smaller? It's not the picture I'm using, but the banner sizing itself.

Hi Debra

It is not possible to change the size of the banner area in your style template. The banner area is part of the design of the template and can therefore not be changed.

You will either need to change the banner to fit into the banner area or choose a style for the Yola Style Gallery with a banner area that is more suitable to what you have in mind for the look of your website.

Thank you

If you are using Yola Silver, you can edit the CSS, this will allow you to change the size of the banner image, if you want some help on this I am able to.

I had no idea we could edit the CSS!!!!! This is awesome! I don't know how to do it, but I know what it means - which means I could learn it. Could you help me with the banner size in the mean time and perhaps point me in the direction of a couple of places where I could learn to edit the CSS??

Thank you so much for taking the time to post an answer to my question.

Hi Debra,

It is quite simple to edit the banner size, go to the Style Menu, and click on "Edit Custom CSS".

Then a window will pop-up, Click on the Site CSS tab, and copy it all (it is simplest I have found).

Then paste it into the text area. Then, find where it says "banner", there will lots of these, change the dimensions of these variables and a Voila, the banner will change.

Make sure that the box at the bottom of this window is not ticked, and you can only do this with a Yola SILVER subscription!

Good Luck,

Andi

Hi Andi,
I was trying to follow your post post but had 1 issue: The banner size did change but when going into the "resize banner image..." option so I could change my image to fit the new banner size, I found that the banner editing tool did not change with it. That means that I am not able to fill the new banner space with my image. Did my description make sense?

Will appreciate your input on this.

Thanks!
Nadav

Hi Nadav

I'm sure that Andi will be able to help you with this question.

I'm sharing my thoughts too. If you have changed your banner size, then it is most likely that the resize tool does not calculate it from the website code. You will need to manually change the banner using a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop, then uploading the new banner to the File Manager.

Please let us know if you need help!

Hi Nivad,

What style are you using? There could be another value that you may need to change. I shall look into it for you.

Kind Regards,

Andi

Hi Nazlie,

If you change the values correctly, it should edit the values in the Banner editor. I have changed the values in one of my websites and I have seen the change.

Hope this helps,

Andi

Thanks Andi! I have not experimented with the banner resizing in this way, so this is good to know :)

Hi
I manage a site for a silver account holder and I wanted to change the banner area size, I followed Andi's suggestion and copied the css but when I try to paste it in the text area the 'paste' is greyed out, have you any idea why? I'm using firefox 6 and the site is http://www.mundesleygolfclub.com/
Thanks

Hi David,

I am not sure where you are seeing the 'paste', are you trying to right click and press 'paste', or are you seeing this in your browser tool bar under 'file'?

I have tested pasting a code into the site CSS field on that site by pressing 'command' and 'v' and was able to do so without hesitation. (This is doable on a Mac) On a PC you can try 'control' and 'v'.

Hi Brianna
Yes I do mean the right click copy/paste function, I tried control v as you suggested and it worked, thanks
