Hi Ralph

Right now the header text is determined by the style you select. Soon we hope to add more customization options to our styles, which will include the ability to format this text.

In the meantime here is one suggestion you might find helpful: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

Best wishes

Hi Ralph

You can If you want complete control over the text in the top banner, what i would suggest is removing the header text, and putting your text onto your banner.

Here is how you would go about doing that:

1.) Choose a template which has a customizable banner image.
2.) Create your own image to place in that area - use an image editing program to write the text that you would like to have as your banner text
3.) Upload the image from your computer to SynthaSite by clicking on the text which says 'click here to change this banner', and then clicking the upload button in the bottom left corner of the resource manager.
4.) Now the banner for your site will be replaced with the banner you have uploaded with the text and formatting that you want.
5.) The next thing is to get rid of the old banner text. To do this click on the text. A dialog box will pop-up.
6.) Delete whatever text is in the dialog box, and simply put in a space (you can't leave it blank because it needs *something* to be there).

Now, the default text is removed, and you have a banner which has the text that you want displayed how you like.

Please note:
- with this method your header text will no longer link back to your homepage

I did what Christo suggested - put text on the banner for my home page. Now the page hearding box in properties is empty. How does this affect page ranking and seo?

Hi Glyn,
You can type your page heading into that box if you wish. Click inside it with your mouse and then type the heading that you want.
It is advisable in terms of SEO to have something there.
Please let us know if you need more help with this.

Ruth - i'm not sure if that is true - its is important to have a window title however search engines don't care about the page heading. :)

Ruth - I can't type into that box as the text would show up on my banner and ruin the effect.

Lee - If what you are saying is the case, then this may not be an issue.

Any other thoughts anybody? Thank you!

i realised if you type the page header it would show up (i do the same thing on my site) + i dont think its needed - the window title is important and should not be identical to any others on your site. Lee.

Hello Glyn,

The page heading ranks as fourth in importance of page word rankings. That's pretty low down on the list so I wouldn't be concerned. You may be able to use "alt text" for your banner image but not so important. You can also use a very descriptive filename for your banner image. Search engines are filename aware.

Good content tends to win out over page heading.
