Hello, yola team as you probably know having a blog in any commercial or private website is a must! Hell, yola.com as a blog! I know that yola stop the blog wigget and allow integration with tumblr, well, its not the same. If you look at yola sitebuilder competicion you see that they all have blog pages, well, i ́m not the owner of yola but if it was mine that was a problem to me!
Why dont create a blog function? Even if its premium function. Thats just an idea.

Hello Rui,

Yola has made a decision to focus our resources on our sitebuilding platform rather than offering a blog service.  We strongly encourage you to consider using a dedicated blogging platform such as Wordpress or Blogger. Once you have your blog, you can create a link on your Yola site to it.

Alternatively, if you have a Tumblr blog, you can use the Tumblr Widget which facilitates a feed from your Tumblr blog directly to your Yola site.

Please remember your inquiries are always welcome.

Hello Jen, i understand that, but tell me one thing, how do you fell if you buy a service and twoo years later part of that service simply gone *? Do you ask for a discount? Do you migrate to wordpress? Dont get me wrong, i work with yola for 5 years now and i like yola but it makes me sad to see other sitebuilders having more resources than yola. Anyway, thats was just an idea, the premium one.

I removed my blog over a year ago because it messes with your mobile usability. It isn't optimized for mobile which is now over 50% of web searches. I do agree that a blog that is an actual part of your site is much much better. Others offer it so it can be done correctly. Tumblr is crap for e commerce sites and if I go to the trouble of Word Press full blown blog I might as well make it my main site where I sell.

Hello Max,

Thank you for your comment. Please allow me to clarify this for you.

The decision was made to deprecate this feature within new accounts, as our focus has been on our stronger points such as providing an easy to use, friendly and great Sitebuilder!

If your main interest is blogging, and if you require advanced blogging features, then I suggest starting a blog with a specialist site Wordpress or Blogger. Once you have your blog, you can create a link on your Yola site to it.

Please let us know if you need further assistance!

Hello Rui,

Thanks for your reply.  I appreciate your suggestion, but at this time we do not have plans to reintroduce the Blog Widget.  There was never any additional charge for the Blog Widget, and if you signed up while it was available, you can still use it, as you know.  We simply don't have the resources to manage two different software platforms, so the decision was made to stop development on the Blog Widget but leave it available for existing users.   Since we don't charge a fee for using it, we're not able to offer a discount on it.

I hope this helps clarify!

smug apologetics.

Rui, you won't get an honest dialogue on this issue simply defensive arguments and patronising.

Hi Gop,

I'm unclear what you feel was patronizing or defensive about Jen's replies but I can assure you that is not our intent. We are being honest and transparent when we say we have discontinued development of the blog page and do not currently plan to bring it back. You are correct about us being apologetic and we sympathize with Rui's frustration and disappointment.

We hate to see any of our customers move on, especially those that have been with us for so long, but if a blog feature beyond Tumblr is required, using a more traditional blogging service like Wordpress or Blogger may be a better fit.

  • Apologetics: argumentative discourse in defense. (Not apologetic!)
  • Smug: The group, who manage the facilities, presumes to deserve the right to tell subscribers what is important while disregarding what may be important to the customer.
  • Patronise: treat with an apparent kindness that betrays a feeling of superiority.
  • Defensive: very anxious to avoid criticism.

PS:

Polemics: the practice of engaging in controversial debate or dispute.

Jen, Laura and Gop, thanks for your feedback, i think healthy debates are important. After doing some research on the internet and reading your responses, it ́s simple to understand that Yola simply dont have the resources, energy, services, staff, knowledge, to have a blog system, period! I understand that and i dont talk no more about that.

Like i said im still using the old blog system, i have 700+ blog entry ́s, let ́s just hope that nothing happens to the old blog system.

RUI if you upgrade to one of the new responsive designs - you will not be able to use the blog widget anymore which became a problem for me.  I was told by an SEO expert that the Tumblr option could reduce your rankings on Yola as "content" is in two places - plus was an ugly option.

I went to Weebly for a blog page and I call the blog page from my Yola website.  Yes I am paying for two platforms, but works for me as there are features in each one that are great and don't exist in the other.  I get a better bang for my buck and support on Yola so keep my websites here as Weebly's support is not good, but their blog platform and a few of their other features for the web allows me to have the best of both worlds.  I am a Gold user on Yola but only pay for the lowest end Weebly to get my blog as that interface is great.

Unfortunately for every company there are only so many resources and they are not always going to have all the features that please everyone - but these type of products save businesses a lot of money and headaches versus coding from scratch and dealing with ISPs.

Hi Brad,

To summarize the comments in this topic already, it was something we used to offer and moved away from because we needed to focus our engineering hours on other aspects of our product. We left the feature active for existing users but disabled the feature for new users.

While I cannot make any promises about the future, I will say that the renewed interest in this topic has been noted and discussed by our executive team so if anything changes going forward we will be sure to update this thread.

Hello Laura, thanks. For the record, i work with 5 different sitebuilders and yola is the easies to work with but let your executive team know that 8 out of 15 choose another platform just becouse yola lack of two features, one of them is the blog system.
