I just made my first website using synthasite:
http://wasteofspace.synthasite.com/in...
But the blog page I added to the site is having a problem. Twice I've tried to add a blog entry, and both times it wouldn't show up. When I go to the blog manager, I can see my posts, but I can't get them to appear on the site. I feel like I'm forgetting to do some very obvious thing, but I can't figure it out.

Hi pjunk

Sorry that you are experiencing this problem. I see what you mean. The commenting feature is not showing up.

I ran into what you are a while back and I solved it by taking the first set of codes provided by disqus and dragging an HTML widget onto my blog page and insert the code into it.

It works perfectly and all of your messages get to your disqus blog in box

For detailed instructions and tips, please go to http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/b...

If you have tried this already you can add a comment feature to your blog by means of a HTML widget

1. To get the comment code, your site has to be published
2. In your site editor go to your blog page and click on the "Blog Manager" button
3. Click on the "Settings" tab
4. Click on the "Disqus" logo to visit www.disqus.com and register for an account
5. Submit your URL on Disqus
6. Click on Admin > Tools
7. Choose "Generic code" and copy the first code provided
8. Paste the code into a HTML widget on your blog page. (Reps I know, I know this step is not as the directions state but as that never worked the 10 times I tried it. I found this to work just fine each and every time)
9. Update your site
10) Preview your page to view the comment feature

Here is a thread where I have added some further description and picture.
http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

Hope that helps you out...

P.S. You may want to rethink the clock feature on your index page as my anti virus showed a pop up and you don't want your visitors to leave your site as soon as they get there...

Happy site building
Ed

I'm not sure if we're on the same page here :/ I'm not trying to get comments on my blog, the problem is when I make a simple text blog entry it doesn't appear on the site at all :( Oh, and thanks for the tip, I removed the clock.

Oh, and this may be related, but along with the entry I even made a new category which isn't appearing either. They both only appear on the Blog manager, and not the actual page.

Sorry about the misunderstanding.

I just now tested the blog feature and had no problem posting 6 entries as well as creating 2 blog pages with entries. I see that no posts or recent posts appear on your site. Could you try and create a new blog page to see if the same problem occurs?

Thanks
Ed

Well, I made a new blog page, wrote a new first entry, pressed OK, and once again nothing happened. Yet, in the blog manager, it clearly shows that I have created an entry. All I managed to do was edit the "About Me" section...

Hmmm I have just done another blog page and still working here. I wonder which browser are you using?

Firefox is the browser of choice when editing your site with the site builder.

Could you update your site just to test something?

I'm also using Firefox. I'm not sure what you're asking, my site is already updated. Or are you asking if I can change something and try updating to test? If so, then sure, just tell me what to do ._.

Try clicking the "Update my site" button in your site builder toolbar on the right.

If you do not update your site I cannot see any changes that you have made. Only you are able to use the Preview button to see your site.

I know that. I always update my site once I've made any change :/ Then, I go to my actual site to make sure I'm seeing what everyone else would.

hmmm this is quite puzzling...

Could you take a screen shot of your blog page in your site editor and include it here with the "Add an image" button?

Hmmm you are doing everything perfectly... This might be an issue for tech support to look into. Could you click "Help" in your site builder upper right corner and then "Contact support" Explain your problem and they will hopefully get you an answer soon.

Could you before doing that open your site builder in IE or Opera and try the same steps to create another blog page... This is to verify that it is not a Firefox version problem.

Great job pjunk

I knew it would get sorted out sooner or later. I am glad in your case it was today ;) I don't see your blog working though. Did you not list that new blog page in your menu?

Hi pjunk

I just saw this thread. It is definitely a bug. Can you email us from the Help menu like Ed suggests?

Sorry about the frustration, but you are doing everything right.

WHOA! I think I figured out the problem, which is weirder than I though! Apparently, it only messed up if I named my blog page "blog". When I changed it to anything else, like "my blog" or "test blog" the entry would show up O_O

Sorry chief but I think you just needed to clear the system with the creation of a new page on Safari... Once you did that I hope it made it possible to edit your blog on Firefox... Could have been a drive by bugging too. LOL

I had a blog page named "Blog" and it was just fine. I created one a minute ago and it was fine as well.

I saw your blog up and running so we can be happy and jump up and down for joy. That is the important thing ;)

Keep up the good work and happy site building

This is a very strange bug. We have seen it before but so far have not been able to replicate it reliably in order to fix it. One of the other users also reported that renaming his blog page solved the problem. So I suspect that the act of renaming the page might somehow fix whatever went wrong.

We will have to keep experimenting. For now I am happy that pjunk's blog is working, but pretty sure that other users will run into the same issue unless we find the cause.

So keep an eye out for this one. . . . We're still mystified!

I am experiencing this problem too. Created a blog page named 'blog'. Then created several test posts. Updated my site and no posts display. (I am using Firefox).

This is a bug. I renamed my blog page to 'blog2' and my posts showed. Then renamed it back to 'blog' and no posts.
