Im so disapointed. My blog in yola doesnt seem to meet my expectation. because, I cant post blog from oldest to newest. It appears disorganized to the reader as I have posted my blog in order to teach them a topic step by step. theres seems to be no way to change the order of the blogs as time and date are not important. Please reply and help me solve this.

The blogs are published from newest to oldest davidjohnhood. Frustrating I know and it can't be changed as it's presented. The invisible index (the order of publishing) is a composite of the the date and time it was published then indexed as the publication list on these criteria.

What you can do is create an alternative index listing the posts from oldest to newest or in any order that you prefer. Then hide your blog page from the directory by taking it out of the menu. Each post has it's own URI so you can include that in the name of the post within your new index. I have done this with over a thousand posts and with three alternative indices, based on different criteria. What I would suggest is that if you go this line then set the original blog pagination to one post per page otherwise you hit the same situation again for the displayed posts. You can also add another line of HTML to the end of the post directing the reader onto the next logical post (this would have to be done retrospectively since the next may not be published at that time). There is a problematic line at the bottom of each post both left and right sides which directs you to the previous or the subsequent post. These we haven't found a cloak for as yet :(

The other aspects of the blog such as the blogroll, categories and tags can be taken to another page with some manipulation but can be done.

The yola blog is a very limited facility and the Yola support staff recommend publishing it elsewhere if you are looking for some more of the add on aspects commonly seen in other platforms.

Thanks Peter.
Davidjohnhood, Peter is right you cannot change the order of blog posts.
I have asked one of our product team to comment on this thread to offer some more insight on it.

Hello davidjohnhood,

The two most popular blogging platforms are Wordpress and Blogger. Wordpress I would say is the premier platform with good support and infinitely customisable.

Both Blogger and WP are free to use and the process is quite similar to Yola where you can have your own domain or use a domain of theirs.

I would be tempted to hold off for an answer from Yola as Jeremy has indicated just above. Up to you of course.

Hi -

I have to agree with all of you that at the moment, our blogs are lacking in some features. We are currently in the process of looking into our blog strategy, and I really hope we'll be making some changes soon...although I can't promise anything just yet.

That said - I don't think you can flip the order of posts in either wordpress or blogger - that's definitely not a standard feature I'm familiar with? Since we ARE looking into blogs, now is totally the time to shout out if you have a feature you can't live without. Again...no promises...but we're listening.

Thanks as always for the feedback!!

In WP though you can select posts on criteria and then lay them out list wise in another order. The physical order hasn't changed but the virtual order can be.

That's interesting, Peter, I have a wordpress (self-hosted) blog and have never noticed that feature. I know you can click on tags and categories to just view the posts associated with that, but yola has that too.

I had no idea you could change default view based on criteria. Do you know where I can get to it? I can't find it in my admin panel, and am definitely curious to see how it works.

Thanks!
