If you need support from Yola please contact us via email@example.com or make use of our live chat service! We are working on a new approach to community-based support and during this transition period we are not adding any new threads to this forum. Many thanks to everyone who has participated over the years and we look forward to unveiling a new peer-to-peer support system soon!
I want to buy a domain name for my website. I owned this name on another site but it has since been expired and now they want me to buy it again. So this domain is available but when I try and have Yola take up this domain for me, it is saying that it is unavailable...why?
If your domain expired with another registrar recently it is in what is known as a "grace period" or "redemption period". What happens is when a domain name expires it goes through a 40 day grace period, and then a redemption period of possibly 5 days to a few months. The time frame can be different for each registrar. Unfortunately this is something that is out of Yola's control, and if we were able to get you your old domain name we surely would.
I would suggest that you contact your previous domain registrar and ask them if they are able to provide you with some time frames on the redemption period.
Your other option would be to purchase another domain name from Yola, possibly your domain name with a different extension. Such as if you were using sophiascoffee.com you could possibly use sophiascoffee.net or .biz. Then when the .com becomes available purchase that and add it to your site.
Or, if you are able to buy the domain from your registrar, you could do that an then transfer it to Yola. Here is a link to a tutorial with more information about transferring your domain: Transferring your domain to Yola.
I hope this information is helpful, please let me know if you have any further questions.
