Hi Dee Ho Yola neighbors...

Could I get a few of ya to check out a new flash XML image flipper that I put on my site.

It was designed with the larger screens in mind but will work with the smaller ones also. The side (up and down) arrow buttons may half in size or disappear all together depending on your screen but the images should still flip every few seconds on their own. If your flash is not up to date then it may take an initial click to get it spinning.

One thing that I did notice was that on the test site the links worked for each image but when I moved it to the index page on Honey Bear Playhomes (H.B.P) they seemed to be non functional. I will figure that one out when my mind has recovered from 12 hours of coding, image prep and troubleshooting... ( I just now tested it with a new H.B.P page and the links did not work. Somehow I think that I need to move the images and XML file over to H.B.P site resources folder but don't see why that should matter.)

The cool thing about this flipper is that the images don't flip all together. They are random in that sometimes half will flip and a second later the rest OR every other one will flip and then a millisecond later the rest. I personally enjoy that randomness.

1) Is the 2 second delay OK?
2) Do the image links work for you on H.B.P?

This is what you are looking for:

You can find me here with my head still in the honey pot (H.B.P)...

Here on the test site the links function. Tre bizarre...

Here are most of my posts in the forums....Look for the light bulbs ;)

OK so I got the linking issue taken care of... Had to move all the files over and change the code.

Odd how I should have had to do that when they are on the same system...

Thanks anyway

Hi there Ed,

Your image flipper looks great and the links seems to be working perfectly.

Well done on a great job.

Thanks Jeremy

The link issue bugged me too much to sleep on it so I invested that extra hour to get Er done...

Some day I hope to have a respectable looking website... ;) I hate it that I am not quite ever there yet. LOL

As to the flipper.... You can't go wrong with an XML Flash where you need links to a website for every image and not to links to the images themselves. Additionally, when done right they are so much faster than any slideshow out there. Mind you there are some really resource hungry hog websites that have a half dozen flash objects and some slideshows to boot that take a couple of minutes to load even on a good computer. I am amazed that with all that I have loaded my site with to have the following results on the page load speed test...

(H.B.P)
Connection Rate Download Time
14.4K 207.72 seconds
28.8K 106.66 seconds
33.6K 92.22 seconds
56K 57.57 seconds
ISDN 128K 21.52 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps 6.98 seconds

I am just happy that mine is still faster than my kit supplier

Connection Rate Download Time
14.4K 262.02 seconds
28.8K 140.01 seconds
33.6K 122.58 seconds
56K 80.75 seconds
ISDN 128K 37.22 seconds
T1 1.44Mbps 19.67 seconds

FYI for those who want to see how fast their pages load speeds are:

Looks very good Ed! I'm not sure if you meant to do this but a couple of the homes are doubled. Also the edges of it are cut off. Only about half of the arrows on each side.

Thank friend but I did describe above that it was meant for a larger screen and the half arrows meant that we both have the same monitor ;) I cannot change the size of the SWF file so I am left to suffer through the cut off arrows. LOL Really I did not need them anyway and it works just fine as it is. The SWF is a mere 30 pixels larger than my styles width. What luck huh? A mere 30 pixels...

Oh and as to the doubles... There are only two (one chair and one house) but as the flipper is random there are bound to be doubles regardless and it is just one of those things... I had to make it an even 50 images and will replace those two with others later.

Thanks for your input...

Very nice, seems like you put a lot of time into it. You should be very proud! Also, I didn't know you had a 22" Sanyo TV as your monitor!?!

I will bring out my computer to the living room later and look at your site with my big tv. I'm just curious to see what it's look like at great detail! And in HD!

I try to make most of my images in PNG to really maintain the quality. This does make them quite large but as my target is the more affluent American they are statistically more prone to have faster internet and better monitors. Build your site to your target audience...

Sad that my target audience has all their money in their mattresses right now. Lord knows that I cannot wait till the end of this recession. ;)
