I have tried to look for you. I cannot find you though. Try to add your site to this and maybe it will speed up the process: http://www.google.com/addurl/?continu...

Also update your site often and that will also help.

I checked out your site. You have a good start but you need to put in some work to get customers. The best way is to start a blog and write articles about counseling that way people will know that you are a professional and if they like you.

Than they will want your service. There are many other benefits to fresh content like google page rank and more traffic through search engines.

I hope this helps.

So now we play the waiting game. If you have a site visitor tracker like getclicky or googleanalytics you can see when the bot goes on your site.

HI, Dear I think that i can help you better than others. Just follow the following steps:
first log in to your yola account.
Then click on the that website and when it is ready for editing then go to Publish settings and change the URL of YOur website to this www.counsellingonline.yolasite.com.
One more thing which will impress your visitors that your website is now short enough to remind it easily just go to http://freedomains.job4pk.tk to get your .tk domain like mine www.job4pk.tk.
Thanks

hello, what u need to do is
1. go to google, sign up an account.
2. go to the webmaster tools in your google account
3. click on "add a Site"
4. it will then prompt u to add the URL of your site : www.counsellingonline.yolasite.com
5. after that it will ask u to verify ownership of that site. u do this by adding a metatag to your homepage.
6. after a few days your site should start to appear on google.

Fami: no URL guarantees you a place in the search engines. I know you are a big fan of .tk domains. However, I find your answer misleading and apt to create unrealistic expectations. There is no way to get a large amount of traffic to your site apart from doing the hard work of updating your site frequently with valuable content, and getting other quality, related sites to link to you.

Hi Jillene,

here's the tutorial on Google Analytics, including how to paste your metatag onto your Yola page.

1st- copy it .
2nd- go to your yola editor page.
3rd- at the very top part of your page add an area for html
4th - paste your metatag there....
5th- update site. you should not be able to see any changes in your site.
you could also try pasting it into the box that says " google webmaster code" under properties in the yola editor.
6th- go to your google account- go to webmaster tools- verify site. it should start apearing on google after awhile... rembember when you are searching on google... type in the actual adress in the search bar...have your friends and family contantly searching and clicking on your site. this will help it get higher on the rankings. also on your yola editor , under keywords.....add as many words (seperated by commas) that are related to the content of your page... this should help you out

Thanks for helping out, ash. However your steps could really confuse people. Please DO NOT paste Google Analytics code into the Google Webmaster box as this will break your page. See the Google Analytics tutorial for detailed instructions. There are different verification methods for Google Analytics and Google Webmaster and it is important that you use the appropriate one.

Hello Jillene,

It is a frustrating period before discovery and recognition on the web..

There are many things that you can do to accelerate and improve recognition on the web. It's an ongoing process and not a process that can be simply left.

Your content is clear and helpful. Your metawords or key words may need some review. You've used "professional" words. I wonder what a first time client would use? If you can identify this from your experience, these are great words to add. The search-phrases have to be in the users vocab to be successful.

To assist in this there are a few methods:
Have a look at Google Webmasters Keywords list and see what words in there are appropriate. Another good trick is to ask friends, clients, associates maybe, for the words that they may use to search such a service out.

Content has to be the number one aspect of a successful site.

Casey mentioned the inclusion of a blog and this is a great way to allow updating of information. It's an easy process and really boils down to you writing paragraphs that you feel would be interesting or helpful to people. You can do this as frequently as you like.

General stories of hope and recovery will always add an element of interest. Tips for daily coping appropriate to typical experiences of people living with problems. Dealing with the "now" strategies. How you can get to tomorrow.

Jillene there are so many strategies that can add to a successful outcome. It's a bit of a voyage of discovery in itself. There are many commentaries on this topic throughout the web and these are always worth reading and considering. Your understanding of the processes will increase with time and the successes you will experience.

I really wish you great luck with this and will be interested in how it pans out.

Hi Jilene

Peter has shared some good advice with you. The tutorials in Marije's answer are also full of useful information. In addition we are planning a webcast on search engine optimization in the near future (watch the forum for the announcement)

When it comes to search engines there are no guarantees or quick fixes. It might seem that your efforts are wasted. But if you keep doing the things that please the search engines:
1) Updating your site frequently with valuable content.
2) Using keywords related to your subject matter.
3) Getting other quality related sites to link to you,
Then you can train the search engines to crawl your site more frequently. Eventually you will be indexed and your site will start showing up in searches. Once this happens you will need to continue to optimize your site to improve your PageRank (so that you come up higher in the list of results)

Many people on this forum have been through this process and have achieved success, so do keep letting us know how it goes. We hope that your hard work will soon be rewarded.

Hi Monique I think we may have Jillene a bit all over the place with everyone's goodwill to help....When I first looked at the site there was no Google verification etc... I still feel the best place to start is at the beginning with the Yola tutorials and answer questions if Jillene gets stuck

John: I agree, and there are some posts on this thread that concern me. I have tried to summarize the key points to her and direct her to the tutorials as a starting point. My hope is that we can build from there.

I agree John & monique,

We can overwhelm people and "kill them with kindness" . I guess this is a role for the curator and the thread should stop with a definitive statement?

(he says adding more kindness!)
