For quite a long time I have been struggling to raise Page Rank of my websites. And it is unsuccessful. I tried to hire a SEO specialist. When she saw one of websites I gave her she said it had been done in cheap system (WYSIWYG type) which is unfriendly for search engines. That generally this type of things are SEO unfriendly. She said my website should be build from sratch in Joomla or something like this. So, my question is: can I built anything with high PageRank in Yola?

I have spot 1,2 or 3 for everything I want. That is going against SEO pros as well. I also have a #1 in the world spot... and it is for a single page within my site - so yes, It can be optimized.

Hello Jack

Page Rank is not based so much on your web page itself. It is based on the number of incoming links (links for your site on other people's web pages) and outgoing links (links on your pages for other sites). Google's way of measuring the popularity and value of you site.

For both incoming and outgoing links, Google considers how relevant the other site is to the content of your site, and the Page Rank of the other site. If you have any outgoing links from your site to what Google considers a "bad neighbor", your Page Rank score will be reduced. They also look at the total number of links on the page that is linking to your site - the fewer the links, the more the value. It is suggested that you avoid incoming links from pages with 30 or more links or from sites with less than a 3 Page Rank.

A good incoming link to your site, will get you 1 Page Rank vote. A good outgoing link to another site will give you a 1/3 Page Rank vote. I have not seen documentation of how many Page Rank votes are needed to get a 1 Page Rank Score.

I hope this helps.

Hello Jack,

Page-Rank is only one parameter for SEO originally coined way way back and was the foundation of Google. Google has certainly moved a very long way since that time. In fact it's debated whether or not PR is significant in the ranking process.

There are many Yola built sites which are extremely high ranking in SEO and many have built, as Guido has illustrated, very successful business sites. It would be interesting to see a comparative list of Yola sites vs basic HTML built sites with reference to SERPS and SEO.

The single most important parameter of SEO is content. I'm sure that Yola builders don't have a monopoly on interesting content but the number of competent and inspired web-site builders within the Yola community is certainly outstanding and they are reaping their rewards well.
