Can I change the "theme" on certain pages within my site or does the theme have to carry through my entire site?

Hi, I have chosen "midnight" as the theme for my website but am wondering if one just 1 (or maybe 2 pages) that I am able to change the theme to a plain theme without affecting the rest of my site.

I am currently experimenting with adding a forum and I know I can change the appearance of the forum BUT unfortunately the "midnight" theme I have chosen only has a fairly narrow area to work with and is not changable and therefore the forum appears very squished to say the least....lol

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

BTW: I am learning so much here and having a blast creating my site, I have also just directed some friends of mine who were wanting to start a website to here and told them how awesome the place is and how user friendly Sythasite is :)

Grrr :( ok so what I did whilst waiting for some advice was I just created a test page and went up to the banner/page/theme thingy I currently have and thought i'd just try, for some reason when I click on this it is going to my 'file manager' area where i have the pictures i've used on my site are stored :( why is it being so stubborn and not showing me the banners page? I refreshed the page and tried again but nope, it's just not co-operating.

I think you can only have banners on certain themes. not all of them, however i am new to this so don't completely take my word for it.

Hi Savannah, you are correct I just managed to get the thing to change and I selected "squeaky clean" but yep it squeaky cleaned every page :( guess I'll just have to have a squishy forum or hope that once I get into changing the appearance of it, it might look a bit better because how it is now just doesn't really do the rest of my site any justice :( Maybe i'm too fussy....lol.

Thanks for replying though.

Hi INDI

Sorry for only getting back to you now. I think you have figured out how our styles work by now. When you change a style it is applied to your whole site - the reason for this is to give visual consistency to your site. You can, however, customize the banner on every page if you wish.

Sorry that your preferred style has a limitation with the width and your forum is not displaying as you would like. One option would be to create a separate site with your forum page, using a more suitable style, and link to it from your main site.

Hi Monique, everyone has a life away from the puter (well I should but am currently addicted to building my site and keep sneaking back here...lol) also I guess people are in different time zones.

I chose the Midnight theme because I liked the black and well, it suits what I'm wanting to do and I have customised the banners on the pages i've done so far with different graphics etc.

I never thought of a separate site and link to the forum but first I might play with changing the appearance of the forum and see if it helps improve the look of it. I tried "Nabble" but might try the other forum which will embed into Synthasite. At the moment I have a squishy stark white forum centred on a jet black page and it really just looks ick ....lol.

Thanks for the suggestion of linking to a forum on a new site.

Not so sure about a "life away from the computer" - time zones are probably to blame in this case! :) Nabble is a great forum to use, so I hope you can find a way to make it work for you. I am glad you are enjoying your site, despite the challenges.
