I'm just starting to learn about html coding and hope to be able to build my website from scratch in the future.
Menwhile I'm working with the yola templates (that are great and very user friendly, thanx by the way) and I was wondering: if I register a domain with yola will I in the future be able to build my 'own' site and upload to the bought domain??
Will I be able to keep the domain even without the youla templates??

Hello Aileen,

That is wonderful that you are enjoying Yola!

If you register a domain with us, it still won't be possible at this time (not sure about the future) to upload a fully functional site (created with HTML) into the Site Builder, the sites at this time do need to be created using one of the styles from our Style Library. There is so much that you can do with the styles though, here is a link to another thread where this is discussed in more detail: Using your own template.

I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further questions!

Hi Aileen,
Once you have registered your domain with Yola you can't register it elsewhere as you will already own it. You can however point (or move) your domain away at a later stage if you wish.

No, it won't (or doesn't have to be) linked to your yola site forever. You can leave it at Yola but point it to a different site with a different host if you like or you can transfer the domain to a different registrar. You just need to know how to manage your DNS settings.

You can however do quite a lot "from scratch" with Yola. Check out my website http://www.wolfmediaplus.com to see what you can do. Also, go to http://www.yep.yola.com to see the gallery of what Yola experts are doing. Look around the forum--lots of people are doing different things. I am even working on a horizontal scrolling website--you can see the test site for it at http://www.testvillage.yolasite.com/h...
