Hi, Raymond,

There is not a specific Flash widget but you can add a flash file to your site. Here's how:

1. Upload your .swf file to your File Manager in the Sitebuilder.
2. Drag and drop an HTML Widget onto your page, where you would like to see your flash presentation, and paste the following HTML code inside it:
<!--<object width="200" height="400">
<param name="movie"value="resources/myswffile.swf">
<embed src="resources/myswffile.swf"width="200"height="400"/>
</object>-->
(remove the <!-- and --> as that is there so the forum doesn't render the code)
3. Then substitute "myswffile.swf" in the code above - in both places, with the name of the file you uploaded, and you should see the flash movie appear when you close the HTML editor. You'll need to play around with the width and height values in the text above, to suit your movie's needs.
4. Remember to include any folder names in the file path if your file is stored in a folder in the File Manager.
For example: "resources/Flash folder/myswffile.swf"

hi Diane,
thx for trying to help me. the ignorance factor on my end is "strong..."
sadly, i have to report that it has not worked. i followed your advice to a T.
perhaps i should just go back to making a wmv file via Youtube and link it into my site :-(

Hi Raymond

I tested your site and it looks as though you added the .swf file into a File Widget. You need to add the code that Diane had pasted, inside a HTML Widget.

We have done this for you and your .swf file is now displaying correctly.

Hope this helps! If you need more help with it, please let us know.

Thank you
Nazlie

Hello Nazlie,

Thx for following up. I did indeed create an HTML widget and then pasted the code into it as per initial email. Now my youtube links are not all working... Grrrrrrr. Please DONT do any add-on or add-in if it disrupts the intended rendering of the page... Yola needs to remember that many of its users are NOT experienced at using HTML etc. The ease of use with click and drag of CSS templates certainly has its advantages but I must stress that there is a limit to Yola's effective self service angle. Just look at what my webmaster put together on my consumer site and you will see why its perhaps best to go back to paying his premium again... www.perfectbridal.co.za

Hi, Raymond,

I'm sorry you are having trouble with the Youtube links. I looked at your How to Videos page and all the videos there are working okay for me. Did you remove the Flash file? Or is there another page that is not working. We'd like to help you get your site working the way you want it.
