Can I point my Yola custom domain to an existing exterior website?

I purchased a domain through Yola with the intent to design a website for my client; however, they have decided that they want their domain name to forward to an existing website instead. Is this possible? If so, please tell me how I can get the domain to point to another site.

Thanks
Kris

Hello drymeout2010

We have a tutorial explaining how to access and use the Advanced Domain Settings for the domain you have purchased from Yola. You will be able to manage the domain settings in your Yola account. To view the tutorial, please click on this link: DNS for your Yola domain.

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if it does not.

I have a yola website that ALREADY points to a domain name I bought elsewhere. I would like my new yola website to do the same - how to do this? I do not have Yola Silver.

Hi lynnebarry,
The domain pointing feature is now available only to our Yola Silver customers, and, unless you upgrade, you will not be able to publish your Yola site to your custom domain. You can read about these changes here: http://www.yola.com/blog/changes-to-free-domain-pointing-feature/

I encourage you to take a peek at what is included with Yola Silver, as along with domain pointing, you will receive many other fantastic features. You can view them here: Yola Silver FAQ.

For my, I understand how to use A record and CNAME to point to an exterior website. As far as I can see it's really easy to point outside with the A record if only one IP is needed..

But for website host on google site, It seems that I need to point A record to 4 different IP... I try many ways to achieve it but it seems impossible...

I bought my custom .ca domain from yola and it's "guaranteed to be mine"... So why I can't do that redirect of my ROOT domain to my existing website hosted on google!? It's not against yola hosting it's only for conveniance of using my previously released website...

Hi Lucas,

You can certainly add multiple A Records to your DNS settings in Yola. Please take a moment to review this tutorial: Managing the domain you bought from Yola. It should be helpful for outlining how to point your domain to an external registrar.

I just RE-try to add 4 A record in DNS advanced settings and the system seem refuse it because it only put me the last one entered... replacing any other A record

1st:Trying to enter one A record and save between each new record, replace the first one..
2nd: Trying to 4 A at the same time "seems to work" (system confirm success) but only the last A record is keeped in my domain...

Need to point my root domain with 4 A records to:

216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21

Using subdomain like www works fine (with CNAME)... but i need my root pointing elsewhere for all this to work...

Can you help me doing this if simple user like me are not allowed by the system to do that?
