Hello christian

No, it's not against our Terms of Service if you follow the guidelines listed below to ensure the best possible experience for yourself and your clients:

  1. Note that any arrangement you enter into with a client is entirely between the two of you. Yola will not become involved should any dispute arise regarding this.

  2. Be certain that you always create a separate Yola account for each of your clients as there is no way to transfer a site from one account to another once it is created. Plan for the moment where you will need to transfer ownership of the site to the client. Many web designers fail to do so and create a major administration problem for themselves, frustration for the client and time consuming support cases for Yola which are difficult or impossible to resolve.

  3. Be very clear with your client that they will need to select from a library of styles available in Yola and clearly communicate to what extent you will be able to customize their sites. Draw up a plan of work and a contract so that the client has fair and realistic expectations of what the end result will be. Decide in advance if you will maintain the site for them once it is built, or if they will maintain it themselves and stipulate this in your contract.

  4. If you wish you can make use of our "Refer a Friend" program to invite the client to create their own Yola account which you will then access so that they can build their sites. If you do this you can receive Yola Rewards, should they upgrade their account to Yola Silver, which you can use towards your own future Yola purchases. However, ensure that the client creates the account via the link provided or the referral will not be tracked on our system. You can learn more about this program here: Yola's Refer a Friend Program.

  5. We refer people who are having their site built by a third party to this tutorial which outlines best practices for entering into such a business arrangement. We also encourage web designers to review it and ask their clients to do the same.

Many people don't have time to build their own sites, even with an easy to use sitebuilder. When done professionally using the guidelines above, you can create a very rewarding business. However, there are pitfalls if you fail to plan properly, so we hope that you will accept our guidance and get your business off to a great start!
