Can I add an application that would allow me to sell CD's online? Like a MasterCard/Visa app? If so, how do I go about that?

Hi Megs,

You can certainly sell things on line. PayPal is a very widely accepted method of payment.

You need to have a PayPal account set-up, in order to use it. If you go to www.PayPal.com you can sign up.

I can tell you how our system allows you to add PayPal 'Add to Cart' buttons:

Once you already have a PayPal account and have the code, you need to copy their HTML embed code to add a button.

Then do the following:
1) Drag and drop an HTML widget from the sidebar on the right onto your page
2) Paste the code (supplied by PayPal) over the default tags in the HTML editor
3) Click "ok" and your PayPal button will then be embedded on your page.

You would repeat this procedure for as many items as you want to sell -- in other words, if you have 20 items, you'll need 20 'Add to Cart' buttons. You'll also need to make at least one 'View Cart' button somewhere, so that customers will be able to see the items ordered, their total bill, and give them a chance to continue shopping or proceed to checkout. Again, this code is supplied by PayPal website. Here is a link to PayPal's learn more page where you can learn more, and follow their instructions to get started.

Hi Bee,

You can now easily create your own PayPal store with our latest release of SynthaSite. Simply click on "online store" in the sidebar on the right hand side or your screen and drag & drop any of the online store widgets onto your page. Just follow the instruction from there.

Good luck!

Hi Lim Hwee Keng,

You can use PayPal to collect money. You will need to sign up for an account with PayPal in order to do this.

Yola has integrated with PayPal to make creating an online store as easy as possible for you. Here is a link to a tutorial that will guide you through the process: http://www.yola.com/customer-support/...

PayPal does allow payment with a credit card of many brands. For most people who shop on the web they prefer this kind of payment as their card details are never disclosed and there is the PayPal or similar guarantee to back it up.

If you wish to take direct payment from a credit card then Yola really isn't the place to do this as they can't offer a secure connection for the transaction and the responsibility of fraud and liability falls directly on the retailers shoulders. You have to guarantee your clients that their details will never be compromised which is quite a call if you keep their details on line. There is a certification process PCI-DSS to go through and it is a hassle

With the pending e-com feature coming out soon I think direct card payment is an option and they provide a mechanism that short circuits the hassle of the certification by providing a certified system within their framework.

The regulations vary from country to country for businesses. There isn't a single answer and not something a host would be able to advise on except for their own country I guess.

I think your best advice would be from a source within your country/state. You would probably get a good idea by web-searching or contacting a small business advisor like a bank, business accountant or similar.

Hello FLR..

f you have a Paypal or equivalent, you can set your account to have your visitors use the paypal button to purhase your items. Then you can display your wares and have links set up (ie: Buy Button) or from a click on image etc...
