Can I use a Yola site to help me collect text messages for customer polls? I have found several SMS Gateway companies that can help receive text messages from a standard cell phone, but they all require a callback url. After some research I am starting to figure out a little about what that is, but I still am pretty foggy and need help. Keep in mind, I am working on a shoestring and do not have it in my budget to hire a programmer. Is there any hope for me?

Hi Jeanette,
I am not familiar with what you are requesting, however, I would be happy to look into this with you. Please share the requirements needed to incorporate this onto a website. We will then be able to let you know whether or not Yola is compatible with that.

Well, what I want to do is to create an online spreadsheet that clients can send text messages to on a standard flip phone. The main reason I would use this is to track field employee times. For example, if I have a client who is far away that runs a construction company. This company supplies their employees a phone. Not a smart phone, just a cheap run-of-the-mill cell phone. In the past these employees would fill out a time sheet which showed their name, the date, the project the employee was at and how many hours he was there.
I would take this stack of papers and enter the timesheet data into an Excel spreadsheet and create a report based on that information to be printed.
I would like to go paperless, so my thoughts were if I could use a basic tool, the cell phone, to have employees text their times directly to a spreadsheet this would not only be a step towards a paperless office but I would also save myself the step of entering the data.
Am I on a wild goose chase? Maybe there is a yola widget that could help me in a diferent way that I am just not seeing?

Hello Jeanette,

Unfortunately we don't have a Widget that would do this.

You would need a fairly complicated program to do this - Though I am not sure if you would need a website for it - It could most likely be stand-alone on your machine. You could however use the website to display the results.

I am sorry i can't assist further with this - I am not too knowledgeable on SMS technology. You might want to try a telecommunications company - they might be able to assist.

I hope this helps.
