Problems with Flickr Gallery pictures

I don't know what to do. My site has been going down on and off for a week now. If the site is not down, my flickr gallery does not work and that happens a few times a day. I am not exaggerating. I have to check up on my gallery at least 15-20 times a day because Yola stops pulling my pictures from Yola. I have to go in edit the gallery and play with max number of pictures in order to get my pictures back. An hour later, it stops working again. But now I am getting errors that I have never seen.

I can't get upset with the forum mods as it's not their fault and I"m sure they're sick and tired of me complaining about this too many times but I don't know what to do. I wanted to test Yola before I bought the membership and I really liked it the first 2 weeks because it's very user friendly but there is no point if your clients cannot see any of your work. This is really embarrassing as well. I don't even know how many customers won't even return to my site because of these on going daily technical problems the site is having.

You can visit my site discountphotography.yolasite.com to see that my picture gallerias are not working at all. Checking up on your site 15-20 times a day is not easy and in few days when I go back to school, I won't be able to do that at all.

There has to be some solution to this. It's not my first time having gallery issues. You can search my URL on yola.

Hello, I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem. Can you post a URL to your site so I can take a look?

I don't know what you mean by "search your URL on yola"

Thanks

My URL is http://discountphotography.yolasite.com/
What I meant by search my URL is that I've had this issue many times before. I'd post on the forum and it would get resolved in few days. Last time however it took 2 weeks. Thanks Nathan!

You'll see that "Pricing" and "Facebook" Page loads right away but none of the albums load. This has been happening for a few weeks now. The albums takes too long to load. Sometimes you see the pictures, and sometimes you don't.

Hi Jibran, thanks for posting the URL! All of your pages are loading fine for me, I cannot replicate the problem you're having. Can you post what browser you are using and what type of internet connection you have? (Dialup, Comcast high speed, AT&T, etc.)

Thanks
-Nathan

Hi Jibran, I just noticed that there are no images on those pages accept the ones you mentioned. It must be either a Flickr problem or a problem on Yola's side. Hopefully a Yola employee will see this and let you know if its being fixed.

Sincerely,
Nathan

Actually, sorry to post again, but there are images on there but they take a while to load (like you said). Hopefully this will be fixed soon, I understand your frustration!

You are always welcome to email support@yola.com if you need to give account details or if you prefer to chat privately. (You aren't aloud to post login details and emails on this forum, and I am sure you wouldn't want to because then people could get your info!)

Hi Jibran,

Your gallery pages are loading fine for me as well, I have attached a screenshot for your reference.

Flickr has been having some trouble with their search API in pulling up newly tagged images. Unfortunately their API issues are out of our control, so if you feel your website is being negatively impacted by this, our best suggestion is for you to create your own gallery or use another third party photo gallery as your website partner. You can learn about some of the other options available here.

I also wanted to address your concerns about downtime. We have not had any outages recently. Based on the screenshot you provided where you were unable to open your Sitebuilder, I suspect you are having issues due to invalid HTML code as that is a message that you can see when code is added that breaks in your Sitebuilder. If you are still experiencing issues with your Sitebuilder opening or seeing that error message, please let me know and I will be happy to ask our HTML team to take a look at it for you.

I'm confident we can resolve your website building problems if we work together.

Thank you both Nathan and Laura,

The problem is that the album goes down 25-20 times a day at least. For example the album Laura is viewing no longer opens. I am going to include 3 screen shots. Out of 4 picture albums, 3 are not opening. And maybe 20 minutes later, 2 will work and 2 won't. They all take turns.

I guess I'll have to try smugmug and see if the results are the same. But so far 3 albums are not opening and I've included the screen shots. Thank you for all your help.

Nathan, I have a comcast cable and I have 12mb bandwidth.

Hello Jibran

I would like to offer another alternative that may work for you as well which is JAlbum.net. JAlbum is a program which you can use to create fantastic looking albums that you can embed into your site. They have numerous styles from which you can choose. Here are the steps to add JAlbum to your site.

1. You will need to create an account with JAlbum. It's free!
2. Once you've confirmed your sign-up, click on "Create new album".
3. Upload your Photos.
4. Click on "Info" to give your photos some descriptions.
5. To select the kind of album you want, select "Design".
6. Under your "Settings" tab, select the options you want available.
7. Once you're done creating your site, then click on the "Save and exit" button on the right.
8. You should now see a "Congrats! Here's your JAlbum". On that dialog box, copy the link URL.
9. In your Sitebuilder, drag over an HTML Widget and place the following code: <iframe src="your link URL goes in here" width="900px" height="1000px"></iframe>
*You may need to fiddle with the width and height of your iframe to accommodate your album.
10. Save and update your site.

You should see your slick-looking album working on your site!

If you wish to have access to more customizations and album options, it is best to use the download version of JAlbum. This is also free. You can download it here. Once you've created and published your album, go to your JAlbum account online. Locate and hover over the photo album you want to embed and click on "Share'. Then follow Steps 8-10 to embed into your site.

I hope this helps!

I just checked out Jalbum.net. It looks very impressive. Thank you very much for your help.

I am guessing every time when I upload more pictures to a specific album at Jalbum.net I'd have to update the link as well right? Or does it work like flicker.... you just upload on one end and it gets pulled by Yola automatically?

Hi Jibran A

Each time you publish your JAlbum, it should automatically update on Yola. You may need to refresh your browser to see the latest changes though.

Sanja, I spent about an hour messing with new album designs etc. I did a test on Yola and it worked very smoothly. I have almost 200 pictures I have to upload on JAlbum so I could get rid of the Flickr gallery. The transition will take sometimes but meanwhile I'll continue using flickr until all the albums are created.

The Jalbum looks FAR more professional than Flickr. I don't know how to thank you for telling me about Jalbum. After the transition if everything works smoothly with albums I would certainly upgrade it to Silver account so I could have my own domain name. Once again, thank you everyone for your help.

Good night!
