Can Vinny(CEO) give me a response here

My question to you is:
-Membership.
-I provide a service with over 119 people joined to date(10/8/09)
-I have 3 site so far(real domains)
-I'm willing to pay for Pro(which is steep to only include java, css, and html uploads,etc..) and ONE theme. it should be 1 theme a yr since thats how im paying right? Yearly?...) if it included Membership.
-How hard would it be to allow a third party to create this "Profile Manager" for you?
-Interology(Jotform owners) already have a "profile manager" that is easily integrated into any site.)(IT'S FREE!)
-Minimal improvements such as "yola website builder" from footer wasn't a big deal(just drop a text box and hit space 20 times you won't see it)
-a few other minimal improvements that weren't big on the scale(not knocking your improvements either)
-20 million dollars.....Still only a couple grand worth of improvements...(I wonder how much you pay yourself.......) lol just kidding.

----I love Yola and the assistance I receive from the employees but there aren't a lot of improvements that are worth 50 bucks.

Things I SEE and others SEE as more important
1. Membership(again: Interology is great for this)
2. Allow custom CSS themes( not every one can afford 30 dollar templates, and then find a good one only to have the artists siggy on the footer)
3. Include more sites in Pro Version( I agree 1 gb is more than enough space).
4.Come on tell us future updates! lol. It seems all your 50 so staff are on here telling us they can't tell us, when they should be doing the d** updates and maybe showing us a "test p[age" of the updates.
5. Etc... I'll add more another day. lol

Love you Yola!!

Hi Nick

I am the Community Manager at Yola. Vinny is currently unavailable due to a prior engagement. I hope my response will suffice.

Before I answer I would like to let you that your tone is offensive, insulting and out of keeping with the spirit of this community. I am not sure if you intended it this way. I certainly hope not! Your multiple posts on various threads are descending to the level of spam. Please review the community guidelines: http://forum.yola.com/community_guide... and abide by them if you wish to continue participating.

I have noted your request for membership services, CSS themes and more sites in the Pro package. These requests have been passed on to our developers and will receive due consideration alongside all the many other needs of our customers which we strive to meet to the best of our ability.

Sorry for the "Spam". See that's the stuff I'm talking about. Why the short responses and no answers to questions. and no Monique I am not angry at all. My thing says I'm "happy".
-Where did I sound offensive?? I purposely put "lol's" and "thanks Yola" for reasons. I am happy with service so far but a year ago we were told "coming in future" near future" and things of that nature. We are always held out from whats happening and as you can see my questions were not answered from above at all.

Thanks Monique. For your help. No I am not angry, just irritated a bit by the lack of answers to many questions. And why does Yola not tell us features being added??

Again not angry

First of all, nowhere in my response did I allege that you were angry, or make any other statement about your attitude or motives. I only gave you feedback on how your posts are coming across. Secondly your apology for spamming the forum is accepted. Thank you. Thirdly I would like to give you a straight and honest answer to your question. I am not hiding anything. I am giving you the only answer I have because it is the truth: membership services is a feature request that is on our list and has been for a long time. However it's release is not scheduled. I have never given a time estimate for this feature and I am not giving one now. This does not mean that we will never do it. It just means that our research is telling us that this feature is not the top priority if our target customers and that there are other features we need to deliver first. However each time someone requests a feature we take note and this serves to influence how much priority we give it. So we are listening. Yola is primarily targeted at small businesses and non profits. If you would like to help us build the case fir your feature request, and help get it scheduled you can help by telling us a bit about the nature of your business or non-profit organization and tell us how you believe membership services will assist you. If you do this I assure you that Yola will pay attention and you might be able to influence us to shift our priorities. I can't make promises about what we will do when but I can promise to listen. To help you understand where we are focusing our energy right now: we want to improve the ease if use of our site builder before we build new features.

Thank you. A better answer. Sorry for being "offensive".
Well I have had over 10000 hits to my site in one month.
I have over 100 people who are currently using 1 of 2 passwords. I gain between 3-10 members a day. I love Yola's site builder, but the fact that my members need access through there own profile. The problem being is I have auto email responders that give out password once your email is typed in a certain area, after you submit your email you are redirected to Google Checkout, but in the meantime you are also sent an email stating password. It also states you will not be allowed to recieve""""..... So in turn they don't get anything if they don't pay. But then we have spammers...lol like myself.....enter and try to get stuff. It would be alot easier to have memberships since then only paying members will be allowed to access certain areas and request items they paid for. I receive alot of hits a day. I plan on receiving twice that much in a month very soon. My site is getting ever more popular and we will most likely have somewhere around 200-300 members by the end of November.
Put the word in Monique.... Thanks for your help. Didn't mean to sound offensive, I was playing around, joking, you know. Enjoy the rest of your day and please respond ASAP, I'm tired, its 3 AM and I have a meeting tommorow morning.. today..

Is it also possible to get a primary server from you guys in the future? maybe add that as a request. We pay extra for a dedicated server. Sometimes when I view my site, before it comes up it's veiwed in white with links scattered across page. It's like a split second but its long ennough to get people to say I don't like it I'm leaving.
Thanks agian

Hi there Nick,

Thank you for the information you have provided.
Would you be able to tell us the nature of your business and how membership services could help you?

We know that you get a lot of traffic but we would like more detailed feedback on why business people like yourself need membership services. We have some ideas, but hearing it from customers carries a lot more weight and can help us meet your needs better.

Thanks again.

I sell memberships and in return I send out product through emails. that part is fine. I just need an area that can be set up that people can come, sign up. by signing up I mean before they sign up they pay a fee, it will be a recurring fee. in return they gain access to a page that lists our products, they then go to our product request page, request product , within 24 hours we send it out. Its just that having one password isn't professional. I plan on making my site even more professional looking by purchasing Pro and and using some java code and such, but it wouldnt even be worth it if people didn't have a membership like so many other sites similiar to mine. PROFESSIONAL is my goal, you need membership for that. Would Yola be the same without membership login, especially if people want to spend money. I would generate so much more income if I had that. I plan on using "Get Satisfaction" when Memberships is set up.
Please let me know if you need anything else from me.

Since we started this conversation I've had over 100 hits. Thats a possible 1500.00 USD if people thought my site were more professional.
Sorry, 124 hits.

To sum it up: PROFESSIONALISM

Thanks for the information Nick. I will ask some more people from Yola to participate on this thread and hopefully we can get some insight from them.

having one password might not be professional, but they don't need to know it's only one password, tell them... here's YOUR password!

I do believe though that it should be an easy fix for yola to allow for user logins with different user names and passwords. All they have to do is allow you to create multiple usernames and passwords for your password protected pages.

nick,

you need to put comma's inbetween your keywords - at the minute you have (in the google bots eyes) only 3 keywords.

Hi Nick,

I'm one of the product managers at Yola and have been looking at membership services. Monique kindly flagged your message up and I'd like to dive deeper with your requirements to find out what are the *minimal* set of features that might solve this for you.

Am I correct in understanding that the challenge you have is:

  • you sell memberships to people that allow them to access information on your site

  • you want to be able to grant or deny access to any individual member based on whether they have paid you

Would the following features allow you to do that?

  • The ability to receive membership requests from people visiting your site via email

  • The ability to grant each one of those requests membership to your site based on you manually checking whether they have directly paid you

  • The ability for each member to have their own unique password to access the site

  • The ability to remove membership rights from any particular member

I have to stress that these are not features that are currently in production however the more we can understand and quantify the demand for them the sooner that could potentially happen.

Thank you,
Peter

yes peter. Almost correct. unless i'm misunderstanding. I do not want to havew to manually have to add and deny members. If they pay then email respnder sends them login info with a verify link. similiar to yola's setup.
