Can we verify our sites with pinterest?

I'm trying to verify my site with Pinterest and can't seem to do it. I first off tried to upload the html file with file manager, but was told that the upload failed and is restricted. I also then made a new page and added the html code to it, then linked to my home page, but still no joy.

Can anyone shed light on how to do this?

Thanks for your time

Hello Will

According to the instructions of Pinterest, it is required to upload the HTML file to the root folder or root directory of your webserver. I'm afraid that this is not possible with Yola.

Also, for uploading HTML files you will need to have Yola Silver or Yola Gold.

I'm sorry that I don't have better news for you at this stage.

I talked to support at Pinterest yesterday about this and currently there isn't another way to verify. However, they are also very interested in suggestions for other ways to verify. I feel Yola should contact them as I requested months ago.I don't think it would be hard for Yola to make a Pinterest widget for our images along with a way to verify within the widget. I have had direct sales from interactions with people on Pinterest. I have used it long enough to say that if you have a product for sale they beat Facebook and Google+ by far.

It's a massive shame. I love Pinterest far more than any other social media. I've just spent the best part of a week discovering how to use it successfully to sell, creating images in photoshop to upload, linking to my other social media and blog to then be told everything has changed with how Pinterest works and that Yola can't verify. It looks like I've just wasted about 50 hours of work.

Hello KanThaiDecor and Will

Thank your for your valuable feedback! We're definitely considering adding a Pinterest Widget in future. I'll change this thread to the Idea status.

Hello Lea

As outlined above, you'd need access to your root folder with Yola to add an html file for verifying your website with Pinterest. For security reasons it's currently not possible to access your root folder with Yola. This is independent from your subscription package.

Thank you for responding! I truly appreciate everything you guys do. Does the GOLD package allow us to access the root folder for this option? I just want to know if we will ever have enough access to our sites so that we can do different things like setting up with Pinterest, since they require verification, and many other networks are following suit.

Or is the site we purchase with Yola only good for menial tasks and features? I also ran into an issue where the blog I have under another cannot be merged unless I can purchase other web hosting, and download avenues for ftp?

Please tell us what we can do with the sites you provide, other than what you provide us. Thank you so much again!

Hello Lea

I'm afraid that there is currently no package with Yola that allows you to access your root folder. This is for security reasons because incorrect things added to this area can break your whole website and cause major problems.

Providing a way to verify your website with Pinterest is definitely on our list of considerable new features. It would also help if Pinterest could offer another option to achieve this. There are many other services on the internet, such as Google Webmaster, Facebook Publishing, Tumblr blogging etc. which are easy to set up with your Yola website, also because they offer alternative options, and I wouldn't say that those are menial tasks and features.

Yola already allows you to access the head section of your website if you have Yola Silver or Yola Gold although this area is similarly sensitive as the root directory. Most verification codes other than Google as well as other codes can be added there (at your own risk).

With regard to your blog question: Are you talking about the Yola Blog Widget, or is it an external blog which you have embedded into your Yola website?

An external blog, such as Wordpress, Blogger or Tumblr, for example.

Hi Lea,

Tumblr can be integrated into Yola directly and there is a widget facility for doing this.

Blogger and WP can be displayed in a Yola site by the use of an iframe and with careful manipulation you can make it appear that the Blogger or WP appears seamless and generically similar to your Yola Style. The management of these 2 last facilities is done on their management site and simply mirrored in the Yola site.

Tumblr is similar but feels and is easier to manage.

Great! I was happy to find this evening that they had made a meta tag to use....I really have had much more interaction on Pinterest than any other social site.

Where exactly did you put the meta tag? I tried putting it in the index description and it didn't work for me.
