This seems like such a silly question, but here goes. I did a font highlight and now want to undo it and all I see is options to change the color. How did you remove a font highlight?

Not a silly question at all! Here is what you can do:
1) Highlight the text where you want to remove the font highlight
2) Click the "undo formatting" button.
This is the second icon from the far right of the text editing toolbar, between the "redo" and the "edit HTML button". It has two letter "A's" and a minus sign. See:

Please get back to us if this does not work for you.

Are you unable to see the text widget editing options completely or is the undo formatting button not working? Also can you post a link to your site and let us know where specifically the problem is taking place?

I had this problem but have solved it now. Do you know anything to do with html?? If so all you have to do is highlight the text and go into the HTML button. You then need to locate the "background color" section. Delete this and it will be fine. However if you dont know html get someone who does to do it for you coz if you accidently delete something else or leave something in it will mess it all up and will take forever to rectify
