Is it possible to have a link on a page title? so when you hit one of the nav buttons it takes you to an external URL?

e.g. You make a new page called "Guide", but dont want any content on that page, and when you click "Guide" it takes you to another website....

Any help appreciated, im new to this:)

Hi Ravenous

Yes, it is possible to cause your menu link to redirect to an external URL if you are prepared to write a bit of custom HTML.

I helped someone with this the other day. Here is a link to the thread that gives detailed instructions: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

Please get back to me if you have any difficulty getting this to work.

By the way, I am interested to note that you say you are new to this, and yet you answered another user's question in this forum! I think that is absolutely fantastic! This is exactly what we hope people will do. If you see a question from another user and you think you know something that might help please share it.

I hope others follow your example :-)

Thanks Monique,

I did see that post before I posted here, i tried the steps but it didnt work..

When you say put the webpage you want as the page title did you mean the link? I tried that and it says the title cant contain :// etc.

So then I tried just naming the page "Guide" and dragging the html widget onto it, then replace the default html with the link you gave (changing the url to the one I want) but that did not work either..

Did I miss something?

Also, after i posted my question, I thought I would browse some other members to see if I could help!

As I get more used to synthasite, I will try to help more..

Great Site builder! I particularly like the fact it is add free, which I have not found anywhere else.

I meant that you should put the name of the webpage (or whatever name you want for the link) as the page name, not the URL of the site you are linking to. I hope this makes sense.

So naming the page "Guide" should work fine. From your description it seems like you did the right thing. Did you remember to delete the <! -- and -- > at the beginning an end? (I have to add those to stop Get Satisfaction from interpreting the HTML, but you need to remove them to get your code to work)

If you still have no luck, would you mind posting a copy of the edited code you used or sending it to support@synthasite.com? I will then try it on my side and see if I can get it to work.

I appreciate your positive feedback and your wilingness to help other users!

Yep! That worked, thankyou.. you can see it here http://ravenous.synthasite.com/

When the "Guide" page is clicked it takes you to a blank page, and then there is a delay before it goes to my external url..

Is there anyway to have it take you to the url without the actual "Guide" page loading?

If not then this will be fine for now.

I know you are very busy, but it may be something for you to add at some time, that when you add a new page, on the pop up where you enter the title, it could also give you the option of "Link" like it does with the images.

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated! :)

Cool. I am glad you got it to work!

The code I gave you causes the browser to redirect from your page to the external URL. The time interval for the redirect in that code is 2 seconds, but you can set it to 0 if you like. That way it will appear almost instant.

I have added this feature to our list of user requests, so perhaps we can work on it in future. I am glad this solution works for you for now.

Glad you like my website banner Monique! On the game I made the site for, there are many "Guilds" (teams) that have their own website, when I have finished working on it, I will try to promote Synthasite to the other players (over 1.5 million currently).. and hope to get you some more members:)

If you get a chance, let me know if you notice anymore from the same game.

Sounds good! I notice we have many gaming enthusiasts that build guild or clan sites. I haven't noticed any for that game but I will keep my eyes open.
