Picnik photo editer doesnt seem to be working. I've used it extensively and know how it works. I'm trying to edit some new content, get into picnik, edit it all fine, publish to Yola and then nothing ... The changes dont appear in Yola, or online.

Any ideas on what is going on?

Hi Will,
I'm sorry you are having this problem. What browser are you using? I just tested the Picnik feature using Firefox and Safari and it seemed to work all right for me.

I just want to make sure you are completing all the steps to have the original image replaced by the edited image. Are you clicking the Save to Yola and then clicking Yes when it asks if you want to replace the original file? When you do this are you not seeing the edited image in your site builder?

Please let me know and I will further assist.

I would also like to add that it may help to click on "update" after you save your new image to your folder. After you've done that, then proceed with adding your image to your site. Again.. click on "update".

I've been playing around with picnik and it seems it likes some images and not others. I've been able to edit certain pictures, but not others. All are jpegs, some are photos and others are scanned, there is no pattern/obvious logic in which it will allow to be published altered and those it wont.

Any ideas about this?

saving it to your computer then uploading it to yola,

does this help?

Hi, I have the same problem - But if I go to http://picnik.com/app, it connects to cdn.picnik.com, which is just a blank page.

Currently I can't get Picnik at all for a few days now, and I have tried everything suggested so far.

So, your in picnik, you edit the image and manage to save back to Yola?
If you get this far you now have an edited image in your file manager, however, every image in Yola is given a timestamp, so you will only see the change in the editor after you save and refresh the page its on.
The next problem is browsers cache images, even more so with banners and other pre load images. So always check a change by first clearing your history, then reloading the page.

Or have i go this all wrong and the edited version is not returning from picnik to your file manager?

If it is the later, try and do what alex says and just go straight to http://picnik.com

i have just experinced the same thing - when i edited a image and saved it back, still the old image was showing even in the page preview, so i refreshed the preview page manually and it eventually changed to the new image - it seemed to be worse when i had 2 instances of yola open in the same browser - just to let you know your not alone. :)

Just to confirm, Lee. Are you using Firefox? Do you mean that you have multiple tabs of Yola open at the same time when the problem occurs?

yes Ruth, firefox and 2 yola tabs in the same browsing window, (may or may not be connected, its the only variable i could think of) -- It really didnt want to show the new image,
i refreshed the page (from the editor) = still showed old image
i previewed the page (x4 times) = still showing old image
so i went to the preview window and refreshed the screen from there = new image

Lee.

(PS. i dont mind because i understand how it works, but i can imagine that it would be very confusing for a new user).

I know what you are saying Duke, I've had that before too. This is sadly not the same.

Some images (all jpegs, some scanned, some photos) like picnik and allow them to be altered, but others, no matter what changes you make, when you get back into Yola with the alterations you've made, they are not there. I've done exactly the same thing to about 30 images now (adding boarders), and just recently it's not coming up in Yola with the changes.

So, I took up the idea from Alex and just alter the image in Picnik itself, which isnt as convenient, but works. So ... happy, I guess. Thanks for your help all.

so it works when you do it straight from picnik? i noticed a thread yesterday about file extensions in capital letters effecting something - did you notice any pattern in that respect. Sounds like the issue is really when it comes to saving back to Yola - maybe there is a bug?

I've looked at the file names of the images that I couldnt use and there are no capital letters in any of them. The files names are all quite the same. Perhaps a bug? Going to work on the images straight in Picnik sorts it out and its not too much of an issue.
