Clarifying. When I already have a picture there, its not giving me the option to link the picture to another one.

Hi June, can you post your site's URL so we can take a look? If it is not giving the option in the side bar, make sure to click on the image and then click "Properties" tab in the side bar and it should have the linking thing. You can also double click the image and have options pop up that should have the image linking there too.

Hello June,

Thanks for your message. Would you mind sharing your site's URL with us so we can have a closer peek? You can easily turn pictures into clickable links - another effective way to help people navigate your site.

1. Add the picture to your page, using the Picture Widget.
2. Click on the "Edit" link on the left-hand corner of the Picture Widget.
3. Click on "Choose a Link" button and make your selection from the link options provided.
4. The Link Editor dialog box will open, add a link to one of the four categories and then click "OK".
5. Then click on "Save".

To check that your link is working, preview your page and then click on the link.

Hint: If you insert your picture in a Text Widget (instead of a Picture Widget) you can turn it into a link by selecting the picture and then clicking the "Link" button on the Text Editing Toolbar. From there, follow the same steps as outlined above.

Cheers!

Thank you, but it does not give me the option to select anything from my computer pictures, only pictures on my site.
www.pawswithneeds.com I highlight the picture, the properties section has changed. I see its in the editing area, but no option for browsing in my photos on my computer. and want to be able to get the new owners pic's which of course are not on site yet.

Hi June

After you click the "Edit" link on the picture widget, you should see a button that says "Upload". This allows you to browse your desktop and upload pictures. I have attached a screenshot to show you what I mean. If you don't see this option on your end, please let us know:

Hope this helps you out! You definitely should be able to add new photos to your site!

I saw that but will it change the picture I have there already? If yes then I will have to change it back, then go retrieve the newly uploaded. Sorry if I am a pain.

Hi June,

Nathan is correct. If you click on 'edit' on a picture widget that already has a picture and select 'load', it will replace your current image. Please follow the instructions he provided to load a new picture onto your site via the picture widget.

If you need further clarification, please let us know.

Cheers!

Hi June, it will change your current picture. If you want a new picture, go to the side bar and drag over the Picture widget. Then you will see this:

If the picture isn't in your site's File Manager click the first big button.

If it is in your site click "Browse Uploaded Pictures"

If you want to get a Professional image from Fotolia click the last button.

I hope this helps.

Hi, it does turn it grey, but if you click OK or Cancel, it will exit out. These are called Modal Boxes. I don't know why it changed though.

The problem now is it just stays gray and I can not link my picture. Nothing but a grey screen pups up. no options. nothing. I keep checking back right now and it is still gray through sending you an email. Just checked again, still grey... Refreshing, just looses every new change.

Hi June,

Please do me a favor and try clearing your browser's cache: Clearing Cache. Also please check that you have an upgraded Java and Flash.

Please let us know if this does not fix the issue you are having.

Hello June,
Please make sure that you are testing your link by clicking 'preview' or saving and publishing it to the web. Testing a link in the sitebuilder will not work. If you are testing your links in the preview or online, and they are still not working, please let us know. Happy Holidays!

I typically save everything, but when they grey screen happened I was not sure how to make it go away. I have been doing fine with this site for nearly a year. I cleared my cache's, checked for updated versions of flash and Java. I am still having the same problem. I tried to backdoor (so to speak) the problem and upload pictures from the desktop into my files so;s not to have to disrupt my pictures already set in place. And tried to link to a picture in my files but the stinking grey screen comes up and again absolutely nothing happens. I need this fixed.
It used to be the image picking box would pop up if I clicked on external on in my files. Now it happens only with my files, and no entry to my computer images. I don't need the professional pictures.

Hello, Hello, I am still having the problem. I cleared my cache, checked for updated versions of Java and flash. Maybe I am not explaining myself properly.
On my site, we have a section called We found homes 2010. I put all of our dogs that have found homes in this section. I have been up until this problem has arose, been linking each picture to the new family. After clicking on edit, I click on link . The box with the 4 options turns on, But after clicking external(I believe) no browsing box pops up so's I can retrieve a new picture from my computer. I have tried uploading it into yola files, and then uploading as a link, but it just changes the picture. I still get the gray box too. When that happens, I can't do anything but cancel and then save. PLEASE HELP ME.
Can someone go into my site and check. A trusted someone.

Hi June, if you want a new image on your page, all you have to do is drag over a "Picture" widget from the sidebar under the "Basic" category. An employee of Yola will be able to go into your site to fix it or to see what you might be doing wrong.

Oh so you want to be ale to click on the image and then it shows another image? Just link it to resources/image.jpg and change "image" to the actual name of the image and ".jpg" to the actual file extension of the image.

Hope this helps.

I have no clue where I would find (resources/image.jpg) Most of the time I can't even gain access to that section it turns grey and the only think clickable is cancel and possibly save.

I don't understand how it has changed, I have been doing this linking all year long. But now it does not work, not for a few weeks.

Hi June, you have to upload your images to your file manager. Click "File Manager" in the website builder. A box will pop up. You can upload your files there, and then link to them with resources/IMAGE.JPG

Hope this helps.

Hi the resources/ folder is the File Manager it self. Just upload them straight to there without any sub folders that you make. Also remember not to do /resources/ do resources/ If you need any screen shots let me know. I might make a little video tutorial on Camtasia studio if you want me to and I will upload it to Youtube.

Hi June,

No problem at all! If you are using a PC, please follow these guidelines: When you are on the screen you want to capture, press shift and the printscreen button together. The picture will be saved to your computer clipboard. After you press printscreen, open a program like Microsoft Paint, right click and paste. This should paste the screenshot and you should then be able to save it as a .jpeg file and attach it to an email.

If you are using a Mac, simply hold down command and shift and press the 4 key.

Cheers!

Hi I see these pictures and I see how it is all faded out. That is wierd. Does this happen to all of your pictures or just one? Maybe it is because of a code you added on your page. Have you added any codes on your pages with an HTML widget?

Hi next time you post code all you have to do is do this:

<!--

code here

-->

This will make it display. But thanks for posting the code. That wont do anything since it is only some horizontal rules and some center tags.

I wonder what could be happening. An employee can login and see if they can replicate it. I can't replicate this though on my account. This is what I see when I try to edit an image:

Have you tried different browsers? What browser are you currently using?

Thanks,
Nathan

See that looks normal, but once I hit Choose a Link, thats where the problem starts.
I have been using Firefox Mozilla all year with no problems. I have not tried through Internet explorer. That would suck if I had to go though a different browser just to link pictures. I will experiment

Hi, I 100% DO NOT recommended IE because it is slow and does not have CSS3. It should be working in Firefox though, since Firefox is the main Yola supported browser. I use Google Chrome. Is your Firefox browser updated? Also, what add-ons do you have in Firefox? Like sometimes add-ons do this.

When I click "Choose a Link", the box does gray out for me, but then this pops up:

Does this come up for you? If it does not, then there is why the box is graying out without nothing happening. Because it is made to gray out when you click it, but then the linking box is supposed to pop up and then when you choose the link it sends the info from that box to the edit image box and "un-grays" it. Let me know if this pops up so I can go to the next possible issue.

Hello June

I have taken the liberty of going into your Sitebuilder and I am not able to replicate this issue that you speak of. I have attached a screenshot here:

However, what I did notice is that you have a few image files on your page that are quite large in file size. I suggest resizing these images. They should be 100KB or less, especially since you have so many images on that page. This will definitely impact on your loading time and with your widgets loading properly.

Please look through your File Manager and resize your images. You can do this through Picnik.com.

Here's how to use Picnik:

1. On the picture that you wish to edit, click on "Edit" on the top-left corner of your Picture Widget. A dialog box will open up. Click on the "Edit With Picnik" button and you will go through to the photo editing site, Picnik.com.

OR

Click on the "File Manager" button. Click on the picture you wish to edit and then on the "Edit Picture" button at the top. This will also take you through to the photo editing site.

* Picnik may take a while to load but it's worth the wait!

2. Once Picnik is open, use their picture editing tools to adjust your image. One of the options availble is "resize". Enter your new dimensions.

3. When you've finished editing your picture in Picnik, click on "OK".

4. Then click on the "Save to Yola" button and this will replace your original image in your File Manager.

Please give this a try and let us know if you still have trouble with this.

Yes Sanja, that is all normal and I can get that just fine, its the Choose the link section. I posted below what normally pops up after clicking internal,, then browse. That is the box I need to pop up, but only the box to my files on site pop up. I will start working on making my pictures smaller though. That will take some time. Though thats not been an issue for me. Thanks
