Hi Rob,

The likely reason why you are being offered the upgrade to Yola Pro is that the file you are attempting to upload is larger than 15MB. If you are using a Yola Free account then a limit of 15MB applies to each individual file that you upload. If you need to upload files larger than 15MB you have the option to upgrade to a Yola Pro account, which allows you to upload files of up to 100MB and gives you 5GIG of total storage for your site. If you decide not to upgrade, you will need to select a file of 15MB or less.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Hi.

I dont have a comera capable of creating an image that size! I currently have 11 images to load into two sites, rangimd from 300 to 500k. and I cant upload any of them, just get the upgrade to youl pro message

The largest of them is 500x333 pixels at 72dpi.

Whatever it is it's at account level, and I can assure you I am not uploadeing anything near 15Mb files.

When I want to adjust a pic I upload it to www.photobucket.com and edit it, you can change sizes right there. Then you have a direct link offered to use. hope this helps

Hi Rob,

Would you mind sending an email to support@yola.com with the file you are trying to upload so that I can take a look for you? Could you also let me know what browser you are using?

HI.

Back fom work, see that there has been no update in the past 11 hours! How about I try and upload two past (sucessfully uploaded) images from www.rtb2oneperday.co.uk into www.rtb2walks.co.uk, and the other way around?

I await (not with bated breath) for your reply.

Rob.

Rob, I'm sorry you're having trouble and hope that Yola will soon have it sorted out. In the meantime, I've been enjoying your photo-a-day project. Love both the animal and the historical shots. Really very enjoyable site.

Hi.

I can now upload once more, but no longer have the option to turn off the "image optimiser". I have to save the image then reload the page to get the turn off option. Once turned off there is no option to turn it back on.

Not best, thanks for sorting the issue.

Hello Rob

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some trouble with the Image Optimizer. Can you please let me know what browser and version you are using? Are you able to try in a different browser and see if that makes any difference?

Not having much luck with images this week, pity my sites are mostly image dependant.

Just a thourght, all of these issues started around the same time as I began to get a monochrome image of a lotus leaf when trying to implement an image on my site. I do trust you are paying the appropriate roylaties for the use of that image.

Hi Rob.B

Sorry for my late participation in this thread. We are still quite short staffed on our end which is why the follow ups on your problem have been slower than normal. I just wanted to let you know that we are debugging this using the information you have provided (thanks very much for all the detail) and will have a solution as soon as possible. We will be back with a full staff complement next week. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience and delays.

I've seen this happen before, when it happened to me it turned out it was down to the name of a gif image, If i remember correctly the image was called loading.gif and after adding it to the site manager it froze the folder it was in (like the image above)

Might be something along these lines.

Thanks lee, no letf it a day or two and the same file now loads OK, the optimised (image degrader - if you upload a presized image) is being a pain though. (See next post).

As mentioned earlier since the recent addition of a background image prior to upload of picture, the option to turn off the image optimiser is missing until the page is saved and reloaded, this is a right royal pain in the backside!

As the image optimiser defaults to on, and has a tendancy to degrade pre-web sized images, this is making site update (I use a lot of images) cumbersome.

I will try and capture screen dumps if you require, but this is happening on more than one PC and on multiple browser platforms.

HI.

Sorry been working away for the week. Here are some screen dumps of the issue, some sort of responce (even if it's "we're not going to fix it") would be nice.

In this image I have uploaded a picture but not saved the page, the option to turn off the optimizer is not available.

As can be clearly seen from the top of this second image I have now saved the page but the image optimizer options are still missing.

HAving navigated back to the index page, then reloaded the page in question www.rtb2oneperday.co.uk/3.php the option to turn off the optimizer is now available. As my site is image intensive this truly is a pain. This has been observed under the following browswrs:

vista premium 32bit
IE 8

vista ultimate 32bit
IE8
FF 3.6
Opera 10

Centos 5.3 (linux 32bit)
FF3.0.18

I hope this clarifies my issue.

You'tried too much and seems to be fails everytime.

Yola's file uploader is completely flash supported. So there are some ways to check whether this works.
Try uploading the image to rapidshare.
If you could , the error is with yola, file or in your java script.

Use firefox , enable java scripts and retry after CLEARING CACHE.

Convert (not just rename.) the file from JPEG to jpg , and adjust the quality to 70% use irfan or such app.(jpeg and jpg are not same.)

rename the file into a uncommon name , not like banner , button , image ...

If your problem presists , reply this thread.

OK

THis issue only started when the monochrome image was put in place whilst uploading, given the amount of images. messing about with file names and extensions is not practical, nor is using a common file name. This never used to happen.

I have used FF on several machines and cleared the cashe several timen. I have no I ssues anywhere else like this. It used to be OK now it is not.

YES THE PROBLEM PERSISTS!

The reason why I asked to rename or convert file is , yola uses a filter to prevent applications , vb scripts , batches from being rejected after uploading.

The next reason is , it takes some time to place the image in their inetsolutions.com servers , and be accessible.(stat 755).

There is a filter in inetsolutions, server os and protocol too.
I don't experience difficulties on monocromes.
In my testing , I only had an error when I tried to upload a BIG 13 mb group photo to yola.

Can you specify what happen when you try to upload?
Is upload progress dialog finishes uploading , or stuck at uploading or anything else?

My Images are already converted to a correct size and DPI, that's the issue, when the optimizer gets something that does not need optimising it smudges it. Sorry your reply does not really help.

I reitterate, it used to be OK now it isn't, and it is not me that's changed. Plus given the amount of images I use it would be less issue to move the site.

Rob, were I in your shoes, I'm sure I would be apoplectic. Even so, I'm hopeful that the Yola engineers will sort this out and have a solution sometime in the next day or two. Please hang in with us, as we await the desired outcome!
