catalog of products problems

I've recently begun setting up a catalog of products on my website and I have some questions and problems with this widget. First the problems, If I add an item to my catalog, then press ok and later decide I want to edit the description of the product, I cannot. It won't let me backspace so I'm forced to delete the item and then re-enter it, but then it automatically goes to the bottom of the items list and I can't move it up to where it was before. Right now I have no way of knowing if taxes will be added on to the product and shipping when someone adds the item to their cart, I know I can edit all those features if I create a shopping cart right on Paypal (doesn't allow me to place pictures of my products though which sucks), but on this widget I'm not sure where to go to do that. My questions are can my products be laid out in rows instead of one big column? Is there anymore editing features for the shopping cart other then adding an item, it's title, price, description and photo? Thank you for your time, by the way my website link is www.pillowsplusonline.com.

Hi Andy,
I will try to answer each of your questions:

1. The issue of not being able to delete/backspace in the description, yes that would be quite frustrating. I am going to look into this to see if it is a bug on our side that can be fixed. You shouldn't have to delete the whole product to change the description.

2. You would need to add the cost of shipping or tax to the price in the description field or include it in the total cost of your product. We are hoping to add more functionality (like this one) to the PayPal widgets in the near future; but unfortunately this isn't a feature of the widget at this time.

3. You can put products next to one another by using the Single Product widget. You will need to put a two column widget onto the page and then put a Single Product widget on each side.

4. Right now the only properties that can be edited for the online store are Title, Price, Description and Image.

We hope to increase the functionality of the PayPal widgets in the future. Please let me know if I missed something or if you have further questions. I will check into the delete function in the Description and let you know when I have a better answer on this.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi Andy,

This seems to be a bug on our part unfortunately. The workaround:- enter a space first and then start editing or deleting the text. Thanks for letting us know!

Andy,
I have found a way to put the products next to each other, I didn't want only two products side by side on my page so i went a little further and added the two column widget, and then added two more two column widgets, one on each side of the first. if you do it this way, you can have four rows of products. and u can use the Catalog of products in each row, that is how i have done mine. i am not done with my site yet but i published it temporarily if you would like to take a look. my url is

http://vannasgiftsnthings.synthasite.com

there are only products under the BIG VALUES page and under the Family Avenue page. Please tell me if you do go to look at it so when you are done, i can un-publish it.
I'm sorry this is so long, but i hope it helps.

all very helpful information! i've been spending more time on editing things for my catalog and i found that shipping prices, taxes and such can be set up through paypal and they automatically apply to the item when someone wants to purchase it which is great!
