Hi NikkiP,

If your site is already published to a subdomain and you would like to change it to a different one, you can do this easily:

1. Click on the drop down arrow next to the green "Publish to the web" button.
2. Click on "Publishing Settings".
3. A dialog box will open up. Click on "Edit your subdomain".
4. Type in your new subdomain name. If the subdomain is available, click "OK"
5. A dialog box will open asking you to confirm the change by typing in the word "change".

Your site will then be published to your new subdomain.

Hi Francois,

I used to be able to edit my subdomain that way. But now I cannot because the Yola layout of the editing screen has been changed. The site 'publish to web' button no longer gives any other options.
Can subdomain names still be changed?

Thanks heaps :-)

Hello Alana

Yes, you can still change the name of your subdomain! We recently updated our Sitebuilder and things have changed a bit.

These are the updated steps:

  1. Open up your site in the Sitebuilder.

  2. Go to Site > Site Settings. The Site Settings Panel will open up.

  3. Click on Unpublish (in the second row of icons). A screen will open up.

  4. Type the word UNPUBLISH into the field provided and click on the red "Unpublish Site" button.

  5. This will take you back to the Site Settings Panel. Click on "Publish site".

  6. In the screen that opens up, click on "Get a free Yola subdomain" and enter the name of the yolasite you would like to have. If it is available, you will be able to click "Next" and publish your site. If it is not available, a message ("Sorry. It is not available") will display in red text. Try a different name until one you would like, is available. Then click "Next" to publish your site.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you need any further assistance.
