I already have a domain, but I want to change the name. I attained the current name through Yola, But it is very long and hard to remember. Can this be done without having to pay for a new domain? I did not choose the name I have now. It is the same as my business name. Yola gave me this name for my domain. I am new to building websites so I probably did something wrong that caused this to happen. I am not asking for a new domain, I just want to change the name. I removed my domain from the web and tried to put it back with a different name and was only able to do this by purchasing a new one. I have spent a lot of time working on this site. I am not very proficient with computers, marketing, advertising, or building websites (I am learning). My business is new and I am struggling to make it until I build up a big enough clientel to support itself and me. Please help me

Hello kevin,

Is the domain you are using currently a sub-domain? If so you can easily change this by simply un-publishing and re-publishing to a new sub-domain.

If it's a custom domain eg: or or similar then you cannot change the domain name. You would need to purchase a new domain of your chosen name (if available) this is generally about $12 per year registration.

Hi Kevin,

I'm sorry you are so frustrated. What Gop has told you is correct but I wanted to add on that if you are referring to a custom domain and should you decide to purchase a new one, you can use both your existing custom domain and your new one on your published site which could help to drive extra traffic to your website.
