Changing Index Page

How do you change index pages? I deleted the original index page from my navigation menu and am trying to change the index page to a previously added page. I cannot seem to do it. I keep getting told that you cannot delete an index page or rename one. Even now when it is off the navigation menu, I am redirected to a random empty page when accessing the website online.

If there is any way to make the index a different page I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks a lot,

Hi John,

I'm sorry you're confused. I've had the same problem before, so I understand what you mean. A website has to have an index page as a landing page, which is why it's not letting you delete or rename the page. If you want to change your current home/index page to another one, you can follow these steps:

1. Rename the current index page, using Save > Save Page As (this is if you want to keep the content on that page and not re-add it later).
2. Then rename the page you would like to be your index page, also using the Save > Save Page As function, to "index" (make sure that you use the lower case i, not a capital I).
3. A dialog box will pop up in your browser to check whether you want to overwrite the existing index page. Click "OK".
4. You will have a duplicate of your index page, which you can delete in Site Manager.

I hope this makes sense and solves the problem you're having!
