Changing the gray line/rule under the navigation menu and over the footer on Clean Slate: possible or not?

I thought I saw someone ask this yesterday but I didn't read the responses and now I can't find it anywhere. I've seen people with sites that don't have those two gray lines visible but maybe they were using a different template. I would like to change the color or remove them, I'm not sure which yet.

To save me coming back later I'll ask my second question. Can you change the font etc. of the nav. menu links at all or I was thinking I could hide them and then make my own. Is that how it's usually done?

Hi Ellavemia,

The fonts etc. of the auto nav menu aren't able to be changed safely. Making your own nav menu is the way to handle this.

Generally a horizontal menu template is better used with a manufactured vertical Menu. The reason is that there is un-useable space on the template where the original menu was and to put a created menu below this leaves a lot of space at the top.

Conversely if you wish to create a horizontal menu then you are probably better to select a style with the automatic vertical menu.

The grey lines aren't able to be changed either. They're part of the CSS of the template. .If you select a background image or tile the same or similar colour to the lines then the appearance of the line seems to vanish.

The lower line is the end of page line and contains the Yola tag. It's dynamically placed on your page. If you add a lot of content then this can move out of the field of view until you scroll down.

Thanks Peter, that's very helpful. I wasn't wanting to do the vertical menu but I might do just because I don't want all that wasted space. I really like this theme and I don't want to change again. If my computer will ever stop being slow I'll work on a fix.

I just wanted to ask you a question.. I hope you don't mind. How did you get rid of the gray line?

First I deleted the items from the menu so there was no menu showing, then I added a graphic and used html image mapping to make the links linkable. If I had more pages to link it would look a little bit better but it's not too bad as is. Other people can do hover effects and stuff but I'm not clever enough for all that.

ohh.. I thought you had done some kind of css or something. I didn't realize it was just taking away the menu! Thanks for sharing.

As for the hover effects.. if this is something you want to pursue, I can certainly help you with that one.
