CNAME - I cannot update dns info

Hi,

I currently have my domain (www.mariannie.ca) which I bought from Yola pointed to my wix website (under name servers). I would like the domain pointed to a sub domain now (www.mariannie.bandpage.com). That sub domain only takes CNAME, not A Record.

When I go into the "Change Your DNS Settings" section, it says:
Nameservers for mariannie.ca are not hosted with Yola. Please manage your DNS settings with your nameserver host.

I am not sure what to do at this point, can someone please help?

Hello Mariannie Ompoc,

Looking into this, I find name servers of your domain has been changed back to Yola, have you initiated this change? I also see a CName added to your domain settings. Please let me know if you made these changes?

Hi Mariannie,

I see you have added a CName to your domain. I am unaware of Wix's process with regard to pointing domains, however it can take up to 48 hours for any changes to a domain to take affect. If you continue having trouble with this after this period, please reach out to Wix for confirmation of the settings required to point to them.

Hi, I don't think you quite understand. I used to have services with wix under my domain www.mariannie.ca which I purchased from Yola. Now, when I go to my domain it points to my very old Yola site which I instead would like to point to http://mariannie.bandpage.com

I have changed the CNAME although the A records are defaulted to go into Yola's site. I would like this to change and I am not sure how to do it.

Also to add http://mariannie.bandpage.com is a sub domain of www.bandpage.com.

I was wondering if the reason why my domain is not directing to my bandpage domain is because of the A records that I cannot delete.

Here is the instruction on bandpage's website:

How do I make my domain point to my BandPage domain? (CNAME for your BandPage)
Last Updated: Oct 12, 2012 12:03PM PDT
NOTE: It can take as much as two hours for your CNAME to become fully implemented and functional, so be sure to allow the appropriate amount of time before you try it out.

Bands often want to point a domain of their own to their BandPage Website. This means buying your own custom domain name from a domain registrar and making it direct fans to your BandPage Website. To help you better understand what this means, a Bandpage Website would be found a the url mybandname.bandpage.com. If you instead want to use your own site’s domain, like mybandname.com, now you can.

Making your own domain point to your BandPage Website domain requires something called an HTTP redirect.

Because of how many different types of hosts and configurations that bands might have, it isn't possible for BandPage to support all of these. So if you don't know how to set up a redirect, we strongly encourage you to seek guidance from a web developer or a system administrator who can help you.

Otherwise, some domain registrars and web hosts can be configured to redirect your domain through their admin panels. This is known as Domain Mapping, which makes it so that your old domain address will still work, but traffic is automatically directed from the old domain to the new one. How this is done depends on who hosts your domain. Here are some examples of different hosts:

Godaddy: htp://support.godaddy.com/help/article/680/managing-dns-for-your-domain-names#cname
Namecheap: http://www.namecheap.com/support/know...
1and1: http://faq.1and1.com/domains/domain_a...

**Some other helpful facts:

There are two main types of DNS records: "A" and "CNAME". "A" points to a specific server on the Internet using it's IP address, whereas "CNAME" is an alias for another record. We don't provide A records, but only CNAME at this time.

Hi Mariannie

Thank you for this information. Yes, it is possible that the reason the domain was not pointing to the subdomain, mariannie.bandpage.com. I deleted the WWW A Record for your domain, mariannie.ca.

The change can take up to 48 hours, but it is usually a lot quicker. Please try it in a few hours and let us know if it still has not changed after 48 hours.

Thanks
