When placing code(such as the code boomer has pointed out at the http://forsite.synthasite.com/tut-mou...) how do I insure the the 1st part ends up between the ......, and the 2nd part ends up between the ....?

If I can figure this out(get the answer to this)it should be fairly smooth sailing for me. I can place html code in the html code box, no problem, but per the instructions on that link above's page, you have to put the code parts in separate area of the web page. Thank you to anyone who can help me with this. Denise:)

When your using Yola your already in the body of a html document.

But you can add code which has to be in the head. As a rule add the 'head' code at the top of the page in a html widget and the 'body' code anywhere you like on the page.

The link you left above dosnt work so i carnt give you any more specific instructions.

PS - if you see the html tags <head> </head> or <body> </body> ... just leave them out, dont add them to the page.

Good Luck :) - Lee.

Ok Lee, but you mean if I see or in the code that is generated?

Thank you much for the reply. Here is the site that generates code that Boomer led me to through the yola site. http://www.htmlbasix.com/generators.s...

ty again, denise PS I can't enter an html above my banner image I don't think so the box has to be below that, I think, LOL:)

the head code goes below the banner - at the highest poiint you can edit.

And yes if you see etc. just delete them before adding the rest of the code to your site.

Here's the first part Lee:

<!-- <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!-- Begin
loadImage1 = new Image();
loadImage1.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... over button.jpg";
staticImage1 = new Image();
staticImage1.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... button.jpg";

loadImage2 = new Image();
loadImage2.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... over button.jpg";
staticImage2 = new Image();
staticImage2.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... button.jpg";

loadImage3 = new Image();
loadImage3.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... over button.jpg";
staticImage3 = new Image();
staticImage3.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but...;

loadImage4 = new Image();
loadImage4.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... over button.jpg";
staticImage4 = new Image();
staticImage4.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... button.jpg";

loadImage5 = new Image();
loadImage5.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... to us over.jpg";
staticImage5 = new Image();
staticImage5.src = "http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but... to us.jpg";

Either way I try it, whether with the <!-- <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!-- Begin" at the beginning, and with the "// End -->" at the end, nothing is showing up Lee? Neither code shows up in the html boxes I created though. The second code evidently can't show unless the 1st code is working so that does make sense to me.

PS Help, LOL!!!

Hi Denise,

Sorry i missed your last posts last night.

So the code above is just a generated code for mouse over images?

Non of the images used in the code above have valid URL's so its not so easy to troubleshoot if its working or not, maybe try to republish your site so i can work with the images.

morning Lee:) Valid URL's? Do you mean the www.fromheretoeden.com isn't working or am I missing something? Probably the latter, lol;) But if not, my site appears to be loading up ok. Let me know when you can Lee, I'll be around all day. I understand people have their own biz to take care of so don't worry if you can't get right back to me;) Denise PS Yes, that code is generated on this page/website that I found through a post of Boomers:)
http://www.htmlbasix.com/mouseoverima... I filled in all the fields in order to make 5 buttons for nav bar:)

Hi Denise,

What i meant by invalid URL was the images - have you added them to your filemanager and published?

For example:
http://www.fromheretoeden.com/nav_but...

Ohhhhhhhh, duh, ok, yes I believe I did. I know they are in my file manager. And yes my site was updated yesterday. The codes were inserted like you told me to but nothing showed up when I did a preview, or, when I updated the site to see if they might appear there. I will go over there quickly and do an update but I did delete the boxes I put the code in because I was getting some sort of error message on the page. I see some extra characters in the codes above and I am not sure they were meant to be pasted in also? Denise:) PS here is the error message in case it helps: Invalid component ID I195, I203 and I196 cannot find components html. This came up before I tried to delete the boxes with the code so I don't know what is up with the page.

Nope, it just has the little, red box says "opening page" running and running. I went out of my browser and logged back in but still won't open the index page where I am working on the code. I want to delete that widget/html box and start over but it won't open to let me. I did check the filemanager, it let me do that, and the files are all there, 2 states of each button, one lighter and one darker. Let me know if I can provide you with more info that might help. Sounds like the code has a problem and its stopping the editor from opening correctly... Bad news.

I presume that you are also not able to re publish the site?

The reason i say this is because if you have the images in your file manager in a folder called 'nav_buttons' they are still not accesable.

I did also notice that the image URL's are missing the resources folder.

The true URL of the images would be http:// www.fromheretoeden.com /resources/ nav_buttons/ store.jpg

But that URL will still not show the images.

First you have to fix the problem of the site builder not loading.

Have you try'd to open a different page?

Lee.

Yes, my other pages are opening. I will try the index one again, that is the one with the code entered into the html widget.

resources is the filemanager. nav_buttons is a sub folder in the resources folder (i.e. the file manager)

Go and try to update the site from a different page.

Let me knwo when youve done that.

Ok Lee, I created a new index page and overwrote the old one. I had nothing on it except the code anyway so no loss. Now I can either start over with the code or bag it. What do you think? If that code site is not "safe" maybe I better try something else for a nav bar? Denise

Denise,

I would try something else - this seems so problimatic.

I just made a nice new menu today http://www.palsbar.gr

The set up of it is very easy and its cleaner than using images.

If you want to check out the menu builder go here http://www.cssmenumaker.com/

If you need any help adding it to your site then just ask on this thread.

Hi Lee, I just found when I mouseover my files in filemanager, that resources is actually in the address. I find that confusing since I see no "resource" folder but atleast I see where you got that info. So, it looks to me like I simply put that resources part into the url and I bet my menu will work fine. We'll see and yes, I will let you know;) ty much, denise
