Concerns regarding Yola

I have been using Yola for just under a week now and my assessment so far has been positive. I do have a couple of concerns though which I think have been raised in this forum before.

The first one is the reliability of the Yola back end. I'm just curious if redundancy measures and other server related matters have been implemented in case or serious server outage. What is the uptime percentage for the Yola system?

The other concern I have is one of versioning. I read a post on this forum regarding the safety of peoples web sites in case of an internet break, computer outage or anything that may effect the integrity of the person's web site. One thing I love about using Dropbox is that if I ever have to go back in time to a previous version of a document I can easily do this. This kind of system I would consider a must for a service that relies on reliable network integrity etc...

It is my understanding that Yola is working on such a system? Correct me if I am wrong. I believe that by implementing such a system, Yola would be more appealing to a broader demographic.

I have already told several people about Yola. They will be seriously considering this service to meet all of their web site development needs. I just wanted to raise these issues so that I can get back to them and let them know what Yola is doing regarding this.

Now, back to working on my web site :)

Hi Randy,

Thank you for your feedback, great to hear that you're finding Yola a good tool to use!

To answer your first question, please take a look at these posts:
http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/wha...
http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/sec...

Although the threads are a little old, the same information applies. A good way to view our downtime threads is to check the company updates: http://forum.yola.com/yola/updates/re.... We always post an update whenever any trouble is experienced. You'll see that the majority of the updates are for new feature releases or scheduled maintenance.

With regard to your second question about versioning. We don't currently have a system in place where you can have a 'backup' of a previous version of your site. This is something we're aware people would like to have but unfortunately we can't give you a date when it will be available. A workaround would be to save the old version of your page by clicking on the down-arrow next to the Save button (make sure it's not included in the menu). Not an ideal workaround, but perhaps an option.

It's posts like yours that make us more aware of what our Yola customers would like to see released, so thank you for posting! Happy site building!

Thanks Marije,

I just want to see Yola as THE BEST CMS for the rest of us. That's it that' s all. :) There are so many people out there who just want ot create a web site. No fuss no muss so to speak. After searching for over three weeks for a CMS that I could understand and use, I think I found it with Yola. A major reason for me choosing Yola is the excellent Yola support team as well as the vibrant and uplifting Yola community forum.

Hi Randy

I thought I'd reply to this thread. We try not to give out our roadmap plans, as we like to surprise our users with the innovations we come up with (that, and we don't like our competitors knowing what we are doing) :-) .

I can say that your thoughts definitely resonate with both me and my team, and your wishes will most likely be fulfilled in 2010. I'm sure you can read between the lines :-).

Regards
Vinny

I really appreciate your reply Vinny and the good things (or should I say great things), Yola has in store for 2010. Can hardly wait!! :) I also want to mention that I also appreciate the crown jewel of your organization, that being your first rate support team. Even though there may be other similar services that offer more features than Yola, it was your support team that solidified my relationship with your service, and I know that going forward, Yola is going to continue to grow in a big way.
