I have created my website, rossmacintyre.co.uk, but used a company name, razart, which I just thought of on the spur of the moment when creating the site, but unfortunately anyone who clicks on the 'Contact Us' part of my site get taken to Razart in California.
How do I change this please?

Thanks in advance,

Ross Macintyre

Hi Ross,

In the sitebuilder go to your contact form Edit>Settings and there you will see the email address which you can change to any other you wish

No, I already have it set to email me correctly in my 'Contact Me' link, which works fine. It's not an email address that needs changing, when I click on the 'Contact Us' button in the top right hand corner it jumps to a new page that is for a company razart with a map of San Fransisco.

I have no idea why or how the link to razart in California got there. When I first set this up, it asked me for company details and I just made up the company, 'razart', and somewhere along the line it has managed to find a company razart that already exists in California!

maybe I should stop and start again.
I have no idea how to do this properly.

I do appreciate you taking the time to reply though.

Cheers
Ross

Hi Ross,

Apologies for getting that wrong.

I don't know how to correct this so I think that someone will be along within a day to help with this problem.

Hello rossamacintyre

That sounds strange. When I go to your Yola website http://www.rossmacintyre.co.uk and click on your Contact us link, it doesn't jump to another page, but displays the Contact us page of your website. What you described about automatically choosing a company with the same name in San Francisco and displaying it on the map, shouldn't happen.

However, I can see that the map is showing a place in San Francisco.
To change this, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Sitebuilder and open your Contact us page.

  2. On the Google Maps Widget, click on "Edit" in the top left corner of the Widget border.

  3. A dialogue box opens where you can edit your address.

  4. When you're done, click on "Save".

  5. If you should have problems doing that or if your navigation link still redirects to a different website, please let me know on this thread again.

Hi Stefan,
first of all a big thanks to you for writing this.

Yes, now I can see that all it was doing was jumping me to the Contact Us page of my *own* website. Sorry about this; it's just that I am very inexperienced with this use of editing web pages ... and I really didn't know what I was doing. I was just trying to get 'something' up and running as quickly as possible i.e. without reading all the blurb that goes with it. (If there is a good help manual then please point me at it.)

I have now replaced the map of San Francisco with one of where I live, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Now I have got your attention, can you answer a few of my questions?
I am fairly happy with Yola and the website that I have created, especially since I have rossmacintyre.com and also I have not had to pay *any* fee for this whatsoever.
My only gripe is that I would like more flexibility but I *expect* I would get this if I paid for the Bronze option. But beore i do this I really would like to know what exactly I get for my money.

At the moment all I really need to do is have the ability to create 'sections' for my painting, such as Landscapes, Abstracts, Still-life, etc. but I can't see a way of doing this.

Anyway, if you could help by answering these questions I would really appreciate it.
Thanks again,

Ross

Hi Ross

In our system I can see that you're already enjoying the features of a Yola Bronze account with your GBBO sign-up! What you can certainly do is upgrade to our rich-featured Yola Silver package. It's only £4.99 for the first year, and this special offer (regular price at £70.95) is only valid for the first 30 days after sign-up. If you're interested in what features a Yola Silver upgrade would offer, let me know on this thread, and I'll give you a complete list.

Could you maybe explain to me a little more in detail what you mean by "flexibility"? What would you like to do with your website, which you can't do yet at the moment?

I'm also not 100% sure what you mean by "sections". You can either create different pages to present your paintings, or, if you mean present them all on one page and getting them into distinct sections, like boxes and fields, the Custom Panel Widget is the perfect tool for you. For displaying pictures, you will be interested in the different options Yola offers you on Adding pictures to your website. You can put pictures onto Custom Panel Widgets or choose a picture as a background for a Custom Panel Widget.

If you feel that you are very new to site building, I recommend you to go through our Tutorial knowledge base, especially see our Basics – Getting started section. They are full of helpful information, and lots of them include screenshots to easily follow instructions given.

If you have specific questions, you're welcome to post them here, and it will be easier for me to give you the information you need.

Thank you for using Yola, Ross.

Hi Brian,
thanks for taking the time to reply.
First question, what is GBBO?
Next, I am not sure exactly when I signed up, but would imagine it is more than 30 days ago so I am probably not now entitled to the special offer? Why it is only on offer for 30 days after sign up I don't know, but I basically signed up to have a quick try and then didn't use the system for quite a while after that.
But please, yes, let me know what Yola Silver has to offer.

Sorry also for being so vague in my original query. I guess it's because I have such limited experience of creating web pages. Yes I probably meant pages when I said 'sections'.

Thanks again,
Ross

Well, why not Brian? :-)

GBBO stands for Getting British Business Online, and it was shown on the web site where you signed up for your GBBO Yola account.

If you're a business owner without a website in Great Britain, you can sign up for a free Yola account and claim a free .co.uk domain name. This offer also includes one free year of the Yola Bronze domain hosting package. There are no hidden costs, and no small print – your domain and domain hosting are absolutely free for the first year.

The Yola Silver package special offer is at a very low price, so it is only available for people who decide quickly – I'm sorry if you missed it, Ross. But don't worry, maybe it's better to start small if you feel you are still too new to site building and would need a little more time to get into it.

You currently have GBBO Yola Bronze which is renewable on an annual basis. The cost to renew your Yola Bronze domain hosting package after the first, free, year is £17.95 (instead of £26.95). Subsequent renewals will cost £22.95 / year.

if you would like to learn more about Yola Silver, please see our complete tutorial Yola Silver FAQ.

Ross,

I would also like to point out our very informative tutorials on how to get started with Yola to you. Here is an overview: Basics – Getting Started.

I especially recommend Elements of Good Website Design.

I know it can be exhausting to first read a lot before you start, but many of our tutorials have helpful screenshots which help you try out things immediately, and lots of your questions will be answered if you just read through a few paragraphs of our amazing knowledge base!

OK Stefan,
yes I will try the tutorials but I see already that I am going to struggle with bronze, as I have just spent some time creating sub menus, not noticing that it was displaying at the bottom of the page that Silver was needed for sub menus, though it was letting me create them!

Cheers

One more question Stefan,
How do I remove images from my currently uploaded images. I have decided to replace them all, though some of the new ones have different names. I realise that if the images had the same names then the original images would be overwritten, but I am trying to tidy things up and am editing my images and giving them better names.

is there not a way I can delete all my uploaded files?

Thanks in advance,
Ross

Hi Ross

Submenus
You are right that submenus are only available with Yola Silver. The result you saw wasn't the way subemenus are designed to be. If you don't have Yola Silver, submenus should be added as normal one-level links in your site navigation, not necessarily at the bottom of your page unless the navigation is also displayed at the bottom of pages for a specific design.

Removing files from your website
You can certainly remove all your uploaded files in a row. To do this, please see this tutorial: Using the File Manager. The screenshots of this tutorial are slightly out of date, but you will find the option menu to select an action from in the top right corner of the File Manager now.

To delete more than one file, click on every file while holding the shift key. Then open the options menu in the top right corner and choose the desired action.

You can also rename and reorganize files within your Yola File Manager, but please note: If you change the name e.g. of a picture that you have already added to your website, you will need to add the picture to the page it is on again because it cannot be found under the old file name any more and therefore will not be displayed. If you move a file to a different folder in your File Manager, the specific URL of this file will change and you will need to re-add that file on the pages of your website if it is not displayed or you see an error.

To rename a file within your File Manager, just click on it and choose "Rename" from the top right options menu.

And Ross,

if you would like to upgrade to Yola Silver, you are certainly more than welcome to do so. I'm afraid I will not be able to offer you the discount which is available for the first 30 days.

But I can assure you that Yola Silver is well worth the price – it really pays out if you run a small business and want your website look professional and stand out.

If you need help on how to upgrade to Yola Silver, please let me know.

Hi Stefan,
it's been a little while since I did anything but I have now bitten the bullet and upgraded to Yola silver.
The first thing I did was to try and add sub menus and it wouldn't let me!!
It said:
Switch to a Premium Style to use submenus.
Yet you told me that I would be able to do that once I'd upgraded to Silver!

I feel I have been cheated.
Of course I may be doing something wrong?

Also now I have bought the silver I find I am having problems doing anything extra.
Is there a phone number in the UK that I can phone for help?

Hi Ross,

Stefan is offline, I hope you don't mind if I try to help. What the message you are seeing is trying to say is that you need to change to one of the Premium Styles in order to add sub menu. Premium styles are included with Yola Silver and say "Premium" as opposed to "Free" in the style selector.

Yola Silver also comes with telephone support, you'll find the number for the UK here.

Hi Laura,
thanks so much for this information. I had a feeling I was being a bit stupid....
... and I was right!

Yes I will give support a call.
I have quite a few questions that need answering.

Thanks,
Ross
