I love using Yola BUT I am experiencing a serious issue with support! This is day 3 of communicating with Yola and my issue has not been resolved It is clear that the support person is NOT reading my message. I really need help asap!

This is my issue:I have a CONTACT us widget on our page at http://www.hwsolutions.org/contact-us... and I have explained CLEARLY to the support person concerned that text entered into the MESSAGE block (block below the lines where you put in your details, and below the Phone block) is white hence it is invisible (white on white).

Can anyone assist me with this please?

Hi Judith

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with getting your support problem resolved. I hope that I am able to help you here.

I had a look at your "Contact Us" page and see that problem you have with entering text into the Message box on the form. This is indeed frustrating.

I also had a look at the web code on your site. It appears that you have edited the site CSS and added all the site code into the left pane of the CSS editor. This is the area you would usually use to add CSS you want to use to customize your site's stylesheet. You should only be copying the CSS you need to tweak and not other non-CSS code or text such as :

window.jQuery || document.write('')

This will cause your site to behave inconsistently and may be the cause of your contact form's message box not working as expected.

As a first troubleshooting step, please remove all the non-CSS code from the CSS editor.

Once you have done this, please publish your site and test the form again. If you still have problems with it, we will take a closer look at the form and see what else may be causing the issue there.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi Nazlie,

Thank you for this. The background to the added CSS is that the background of the widget is white and we wanted it to be the same green background as the website page so that it did not look odd. I used the CSS sent to me by Yola but understand that this could be the issue. I applied the same with regard to the form on the following page http://www.hwsolutions.org/data-and-r... where it has worked very well.

Is there any way around this issue or do we need to be comfortable with a white background to the form?

I would appreciate your input!

Thank you,

Judith

Hi Judith

When I check your Yola account and the Site CSS of your website, I can see that there is still the complete original code in the left-hand side overrides field, and there are error messages at the top of the overrides field which indicate that wrong code was added to the field.

When I temporarily disable your CSS overrides by checking the check box in the bottom left corner and then navigate to your Contact us page in the Preview box, I notice that when typing into your "message" field, the font colour is no longer white, but dark as when typing into the other fields of your Contact Form.

This means that there is some error or double coding in your CSS overrides box which needs to be removed.

You mentioned that you received CSS code from Support. Can you please post this code here for me to review? When you post code, please enclose it within these tags:

< pre > < code> your code goes here < / code > </ pre >

When doing so, please leave out all blank spaces which I added for visibility reasons. Thanks for working through this with us.

Hi Stefan,

I have checked my support mails and see that I may have made the error as I was guided to a tutorial - here is the content of the email from Yola:

"You may be able to change the text color for the form by editing the site CSS.

To edit the site CSS:
1. Open your site in the Sitebuilder.
2. Click on Style > Edit Custom CSS. This opens the CSS editor on your screen.
3. The left-hand pane, "Site CSS Overrides", is blank, and this is where you add your CSS edits.
4. The right-hand pane has three tabs:
o Preview: Shows a preview of your website. You will be able to see how the changes you make to the CSS look on your page.
o Site CSS: Lets you view the CSS of the style template you are using.
o Site HTML: Displays the HTML of the site.
5. Copy the relevant CSS code from the "Site CSS" tab.
6. Paste the code into the blank "Site CSS Overrides" section of the screen.
7. Edit the CSS or add your own CSS for styling the site here. If you need help with CSS codes, take a look at the CSS tutorials page in the W3schools website.
8. Preview the changes in the "Preview" screen.
9. Click "OK" to save the changes and return to the Sitebuilder.
If you would like to turn off the site CSS edits, check the "Disable Site CSS Overrides" box at the bottom of the screen. This will disable the CSS you added to your site. To enable the CSS again, click the "Enable Site CSS Overrides" link in the pink box or uncheck the box at the bottom of the screen."

Stefan, could you please guide me here - am pretty anxious about this!

Thanks!

Judith

Hi Judith

I can have a look at your Site CSS and provide you some code if you let me know what changes you want to apply to your existing Style.

The best way for you to find out would be to access your Site CSS Editor as outlined in our tutorial above, disable the CSS by checking the check box in the bottom left corner, save, and then check on your site what is wrong and needs to be tweaked.

If you can give me a list of your desired tweaks and it's not too many, I'll be happy to see what I can do for you.
