Hi. I'm a professor at a university. Can I change my ".com" to one with the ".edu" ending for my domain name? I like the easy use of Yola (have the silver package). Our university needs one to know html to use their assigned webpages and I'm not very good with technical computer language. At least through this site I can work my webpage daily...but would like the .edu ending. Thank you in advance. Jack.

Hello Prof PJ,

Domains (.com, .edu etc) can't be swapped after purchase. The subscription runs for the duration.

You can however purchase another domain, in this case your preferred .edu if available and publish your site to this domain before the other domain expires. In fact you can publish to both domains and make the new .edu domain your primary, which means that those used to typing in the .com domain will be re-directed to the content of the .edu and those newer users will be typing in the .edu directly. This is a good strategy that is a win win both in practice and for your search engine recognition...maybe..
