With the new blogging feature in Synthasite, is it possible to change the HOMEPAGE into a BLOGPAGE instead? Or do I have to REDO the entire site just to start with a blogpage???

When in a non-blog web page, how come the blog options don't appear in the sidebar? But when in a blog page, all the other standard options (text, image, two-column layout, etc.) still appear?

Help!

Hi reev

This is what I suggest you do to turn your homepage into a blogpage on your existing site.

1) Create a new page
2) Name the page "index"
3) Select the "Blog" option.

You will get a message telling you that your index page already exists and asking if you want to overwrite it. Say "yes". This will replace your current index page with a blogpage and your site will start on your blogpage.

I understand your confusion about the blogging widgets not being available when you are working on a web page. As I understand it there are certain technical reasons for this, but I will our developers know that you find it confusing so that they can consider alternatives for the future.
I hope this works for you.

Get back to us if you have any questions about turning your homepage into a blogpage.

Thank you so much Monique! Reading the other support inquiries, you've been very helpful. I actually discovered the workaround after about 12 hours of trial and error. I'm still hoping that I can changed the blog dates though as I am archiving a lot of entries. :)

All the best to you!

Monique...I just found this thread and have a similar problem to that of 'reev'. I too have a website that I need to change the index page. The problem is this: I only need to create a 'routing page' - I guess that is the best way to describe it....I need this 'routing page to come up first - before anything else - like the index page. However, the old site index page I still need to keep and actually link to. I have tried several ideas on my own, but everything I have tried has been a mess. Any ideas?

Hello Kris10,

Of those two pages mentioned Index and Routing, which would be the most important "Home Page" in the sense that opening your site will start there?

The other thought I have is simply adding more content, your Routing content to your "home"page.?

Does this include a blog page in either two of these pages?

They may sound like random questions but they do affect my subsequent suggestions.

Well, the routing page needs to be the new 'homepage' or index page. However, from this new homepage, I need to link to the old index page and have everything still work from that branch...it's a little confusing I know. There isn't any blogging happening on these pages.

Hi there Kris10,

If I am understanding you correctly, you would like your new Routing page to be the first page that the user comes to like the current index page is. But you would like to save the content on the index page so that it can be another page on the site.

This is possible by saving the index page with a new name so the content is kept and creating a new index page (Routing).

Whatever page is the "index" page is the page the site will open up to automatically.

Let us know and we can give you step by step instructions... also let us know if that doesn't cover what you want to do.

Hi Emmy...I have tried this and unfortunately, when I swap the name around I do get my routing page coming up as the new index page for the site. However, when I use the link I have established to get me to the old index page, it comes up with an error...I am not sure why...perhaps I do need some step-by-step help...thanks.
