Hey everyone!

We are very excited to announce that Yola is now selling country specific domain names (ccTLDs). Having the ability to service small businesses throughout the world is very important to us, and this release helps us do just that!

Here are the country specific domain names now available from Yola:

.eu is the country code Top Level Domain for the European Union.
.co.uk is the country code Top Level Domain for United Kingdom.
.ca is the country code Top Level Domain for Canada.

A country specific domain name means that it is targeted to a particular country, and this is a significant benefit to a website for a variety of reasons! So what are the benefits of a country specific domain name?

Optimization for local search

Local search is booming and it is thought that local search engines, such as Google.co.uk or Google.ca, might give a boost in rankings to websites with country specific domain names. This speculation does make a lot of sense if you think about it. It is the search engine's #1 job to return the most valuable and relevant results to their Internet searchers, and a country specific domain name shouts to the search engines that a website or business is operated out of a specific location.

Business credibility and competitive advantage

A country specific domain name builds trust with Internet users and allows business owners to demonstrate that they are ready for business in a particular country or region.

Professional looking and easy to remember

Country specific domain names are professional looking, short and easy to remember. That is always a plus!

If publishing your site to a country specific domain name is something you would like to do, we are excited to help you do that! We have also made it very easy for you to publish your site to more than one domain name in the most SEO friendly manner possible. If you currently have your site published to a .com, and operate out of Canada and would like to add a .ca, this is something that can be done very easily in your Yola account.

I would like to point out our various tutorials where you will be able to find all of the information needed, and as always, we are here to assist you!

Hi Saskia,

We have not added .com.au and it's not something we currently have planned but you can always point it to Yola from another domain.

Amar, sorry to hear you're having trouble pointing your .com.au domain. Have you tried using ZoneEdit to manage your domain?

Yeah I was already using ZoneEdit but the Yola tutorials were out of date so I had no idea how to do it. Thanks for the link. Now I can get it working after three months of it sitting around because I couldn't do anything with it!

Hi Jess and Amar

I agree that .com.au would be an excellent addition to the existing domain extensions we offer.

However, there is still no confirmation that we will be adding it in the near future. Please do check in with us again as we may have better news in time to come!

Hi Bernhardt

This one isn't on the cards for this year, but it may be a domain that is added in future.
