Hello, I just published a webpage with Synthasite, and I would like to create a CNAME (alias) for it from my iweb. Does anybody know how to create such an alias on the registrar's website. I cannot figure it out.

Hello,
You will need to find out specifically now to do this with iWeb but here are some general instructions for doing this:

* Login to your chosen Domain Registrar (Ex. GoDaddy, Register.com,
etc)
* Go to the DNS Management page
* Setup an A Record
* The IP address of your record must point to: "208.75.208.172"
* OR
* Setup a CNAME
* Set your CNAME alias to: "hosting.synthasite.net". E.g.
www.mydomain.com = hosting.synthasite.net
This will only work if you are not assigning to the base of your
domain. I.e. domain.com will not work but www.domain.com will.

Note that it can take up to 48 hours (although usually less) for
these changes to take effect. Please contact your domain registrar
should you require any support relating to this.

Regards,
Emmy

Emmy, thank you so much for this detailed, and very helpful answer!
I have one more quarry concerning this issue, because I am a beginner in this. How do I find who is my domain registrar in my macbook in order to get to the DNS page?

Hi Melinda - go to www.coolwhois.com and enter your domain name. You will then be able to do a lookup on your domain and find out from whom it was purchased. You can also post your domain here and I can look it up for you.
