My daughter is wanting to have a website where she can post funny videos and blog with friends and family. Is this something she can do using Yola? She is young and I would be the one setting things up. Is this safe to do as long as no personal information is provided...and is it all free? She also wants to include a donation option for the Save the Polar Bears foundation. Is that also possible? Thank you for your time.

Yes it safe as long as you don't have any personal info on there. It is all free to build and publish a yola subdomain site like: It is possible to have a donate button on your site but it is paypal. So what you could do is have that paypal donate button and whenever you get a donation then you can send it to the Polar bears foundation. Or you can email and ask them if they already have a link that you can use. Hope you and your daughter have fun!

Hi Laura,

Welcome to Yola. Site building and hosting with Yola is completely free of charge. There are no subscription fees and we do not put any pop up ads on your site. We even give you a free subdomain name ( to publish your site to. You can also purchase a custom domain (dot com) from us for 19.95 USD per year. However, this is entirely optional. So your website can either be completely free or it will cost you 19.95 USD, depending on which option you select. We also offer free 24/7 email support.

Here's how to add video's to your site

1. Open the "video" folder on the right hand side of the screen and drag and drop a Google Video, Metacafe or YouTube icon onto your page.
2. In the properties sidebar on the right, click on the "browse" link.
3. Browse Google Video, Metacafe or YouTube for the video you want to embed in your site.
4. Copy the URL for the video from your browser window.
5. Paste the URL over the default URL in the properties sidebar in Yola. Hit "Enter" and then click "Apply".

Your video will then be embedded in your web page.

You can definitely add a blog to your site. For more information on creating a blog, or adding one to your site, please click on this link to our tutorial: Blogging with Yola -

Let us know if you have any other questions. We will be glad to answer them.

Laura, Yola is the best web-builder I've ever come across. Don't bother with anyone else as you'll either be charged a fee or will have to place ads on your site. Yola is the only company I've come across that doesn't charge you a penny and doesn't put ads on your site.

I've created three sites so far with Yola. Take a look if you get the chance. The first two sites were created when Yola was called Synthasite. I've been using them for a while now without any problems!
