Everything you are asking can be done with image links. For a basic tutorial on links see this http://www.yola.com/tutorials/creatin...

For your first question you would need folder images. The folder doesnt actually exsist, they are just links to pages. Think of each seperate page as an actual folder, You would have the 'parent' folder on 1 page which linked to sub folders on another page, then those folder links would link to a page whcih contained the files. You can make as many pages as you like - for a tutorial on making sub pages see this http://www.yola.com/tutorials/creatin...

For the second part of your question yes you can use any image as a file link - you just need to understand the URL of the file itself.

For example you would use a image link and the link would be the location of the file... when you put a file in your filemanager it has this URL
http:// yoursite.yolasite.com/resources/filename.jpg

The /resources is the file manger itself and the /filename.xml is the name of the file and the extension. (file name extensions change with file type)

If you need any more help (because i can see it sounds complicated when written in text, but its actually not) just ask on this thread.
