Creating Custom Subdomains

Hello!

I have a url which I got with Getting British Business' Online, and I would like to make a subdomain for this website.

URL = www.jakegriffin.co.uk
Subdomain = mc.jakegriffin.co.uk

I would like to host a Minecraft server off of this subdomain. The server is hosted from my computer and people connect through my IP address. Is there anyway to forward this subdomain to my IP address so when they join a server they type 'mc.jakegriffin.co.uk' instead of '111.111.111.111'?

I have tried making the subdomain myself, but to no avail. I shall delete all the changes I made to the DNS settings, hopefully someone can help me out!

I made a temporary Yola subdomain with the content I want hosted on the custom subdomain. It's 'http://mc-jakegriffin.yolasite.com/' Would it be possible for someone to create the subdomain and make this site the actual site allocated with it along with help for allowing me to use the address to host a Minecraft game server?

Thanks in advance,
Jake.

Hi there Jake,

We can do this for you.

Can you please make sure your subdomain is pointed to Yola's IP address: 184.72.229.176 then publish your site to a free .yolasite.com subdomain. You can find more information on creating your subdomain on this link: Creating subdomains with your Yola-bought domain.

Once you have done this you can let us know what your yolasite.com subdomain is and what custom subdomain you would like assigned to your site and one of our technical team will do it for you.

Thanks for working with us on this.

Hello!

I'm glad to say, I got my subdomain up and running! Could you double check for me? http://www.mc.jakegriffin.co.uk/

Anyway, my next problem, as stated in the question...

Is there any possibility that I could use this address to mask my IP so people use it to connect to my Minecraft server, instead of typing in my IP, thanks!

Hello Jake,

I am glad you got it up and running.

Unfortunately no, you cannot use it to mask your IP.

jeremy, stop covering the truth. it is possible and i figured it out jake, follow these steps.
1: go on the 'Domains' tab on myyola,
2: next to our chosen domain press 'advanced settings
3: Press 'Change your DNS settings
4: press 'add DNS record'
5: on the drop down menu, change it from 'CNAME' to 'A'
6: on the 'name' value, type 'mc'
7: on the 'value' value, type your server ip
8: Your finished! you can now type mc.jakegriffin.co.uk into minecraft, instead of your ip.
NOTE: you may still have to put your port at the end of mc.jakegriffin.co.uk
to see these steps in action, go on minecraft and type in 'mc.dabest.co.uk' my minecraft ip which runs off yola with GBBO

Hey Matt.

Thanks for the reply! Fortunately I did figure this out for myself about a week after asking this question, thanks to continued support from Yola and their team.

I will join your server now just to ensure yours works, although you probably already know if it does or not.

And you do not need to add the port at the end, at least I didn't!
