Hello Samantha

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some trouble with setting up your links. Would you mind trying one more time following these steps:

1. Drag and drop a Text Widget onto your page.
2. In the Text Widget type the words that you want people to click on (this is your link text).
3. Highlight the link text and then click on the link button (it's the 10th button from the left in the text editing tool bar, and looks like the link in a chain).
4. A link editor dialog box will open up and you will be given 4 options. You can link to an email address, an external URL, a page on your own site or a file in your file manager.
5. Click on, and edit, the option appropriate for you.

You will then have a link on your page. To check that your link is working preview your page and then click on the link.

This is a brief explanation of how to add links, we have written a tutorial that shows the process in more detail. Here is the link: Creating Links. For a step by step video on how to Add text links please see: Adding text links.

If you're still have trouble, can you please let us know what browser and version you are using?

Hello Sladjana

Are you referring to a picture within a Text Widget to which you would like to add a link? What browser are you using? Can you please try a different browser? We support Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer.

In order to preview your page, click on the desktop screen icon in the top right corner of your Sitebuilder. It's right next to a smartphone icon. Your preview won't open in a new page, but in the workview. To get back to editing, just click on "Widgets" in the same menu bar at the top.

I am using Chrome, and I would like to drag and drop picture widget and add a link to it, in order to go to another page when click on it, is that possible?

Preview is working - my IQ is saved, probably :-)

Hi Sladjana,

We are aware of issues with the favicon not always saving. It is only happening some of the time which is making it challenging to fix, but our engineering team is working on it. I have created an email case for you and we will follow up with you there once we have it sorted.

Hello Hayleigh,

I suggest taking a look at this tutorial for information on how to add PayPal. If you wish for people to pay COD, then perhaps using Yola's Form Widget might be a good way to collect their information.

Hi jessica,

Are you using Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome browsers? This has been logged as a bug and our engineers are working on a fix.

As a workaround, please use Internet Explorer to add links your blog posts. We will touch base as soon as a fix has been made.

Hello lggiftideas

The link functionality in the Blog Widget is currently out of order except when using Internet Explorer. We are busy working on a fix. The easiest workaround is to use Internet Explorer. If you'd still like to use a different browser, you can add links by editing the HTML code behind your blog post text. Click on the HTML icon and add this:
<a href="your-link">your text which you want to be a link</a>
If you link to a page of your website, let's say it is called "contact us", your code must look like this:
<a href="contact-us.php">your link text</a>
If you link to an external site, let's say it's Yola, you add:
<a href="http://yola.com">your link text</a>
Please let us know if you need more options for links, and we will provide the code for it.

The color and format of your links are set by the style, but you can easily change these using the Style Designer. Here's how:

1. In your Sitebuilder, go to Style > Settings > Style Designer.

User-added image

2. Under the Color section, you'll have 3 options available for editing your links:

  • Link: This is the color you see displayed on your links.
  • Link (Hover): This is the color you see when you mouseover the link.
  • Link (Visited): This is the color you see after the link has been visited.
User-added image

3. Click on the square to the right and the Color Picker will open up, allowing you to either select a new color or enter a hex color code.

User-added image

4. Under the Font section, you'll have two options:

  • Link
  • Link (Hover)

User-added image

5. Click on the 3 ellipses on the right to open up a dialog box. Click on the text on the right-hand to bring up the editing options:

  •  None
  • Underline
  • Strikethrough
  • Overline

User-added image

Click "Save" to retain the changes.

I'm using IE 11 and this function doesn't work for me (yes, I'm following the instructions). Any advice? Do I need to go back to an older IE version?

I have always managed to use the external link successfully in the past, but now it won't work at all. I highlight the text and click on link - when the box comes up I click on "external link" and the highlighting disappears from my text, meaning that the link doesn't have anything to link with!
I am using Internet Explorer and am finding it most frustrating to build the site!
Please help.

I had problems with that editing using Firefox . . . Maybe give Chrome a try? For me that seems to work best for the Yola site builder.

Hello Tabitha

There's currently an error with adding links from the Link Editor, using Internet Explorer. Please use Firefox, Chrome or Safari for the time being. We're busy working on a fix.

Hi,

I have an online store but I also have an ebay and Amazon store as well, is there a way to have one of the dropdown options take the person to either my ebay or amazon store?

Thanks

Hello Kunal,

Not really able to include this as a menu item as the menu item no longer allows for this coding but you can use a link in your text or an image link to take them to these sites. For example you could have this in the header, footer or body of a page(s).

Hey,

Yeah had some trouble, but have found that if I put a HTML widget on the page with the following

and leave the page blank

whenever you navigate to the page it will take you to the URL, sometimes there is a little delay when it does this.

Hope someone else finds this useful

Regards

Could someone help me to figure out why when I use the LINK feature now adays, the links show up very TINY despite trying to increse the font size after the link is done?  This NEVER used to happen before...  ALL my links are now a very tiny font, barely readable.  HELP anyone??!

Hi Sandi

This could either be caused by Site CSS overrides, your settings in the Style Designer, or, in case you have added your Text Widget on top of a Custom Panel Widget, by the font settings in the Custom Panel Widget.

To investigate this for you, I'd need the URL of your live site. Please also point me to a page of your site where I can see the links in question. Thank you.

Hi Stefan!  Thank you so much for taking time to reply and take a look.  It could be the custom panels behind the text boxes yes, could you take a look for me?  Here's the page that specifically has the issues with the LINKS - but it seems to be throughout the site.  When I recently went in to revise some text, the links are REALLY small now.  And I can't even get them back to what they looked like (abliet small as well) before that.  Let me know.  http://www.creativetemporarytattoos.com/pricing-step-2.php Cheers!

I've looked at this page in your Sitebuilder. When I add a new Text Widget, the default font size is much smaller than in the existing Text Widgets, and adding a text link just creates an underline. When I check your existing widget which is an old Text Widget allowing inline formatting, I can see that the text has been formatted inside the widget, using the Text Editing Toolbar. The font size for the text was increased. However, the font size of the links is not the same as the one of the rest of the text, it's one level smaller.

For getting a consistent text design, I'd advise against formatting each Text Widget individually, using the Text Editing Toolbar. It's more work and it's easy to get inconsistencies. Your best bet is to use the Style Designer. Click on the little Palette icon in the top-right corner to open the Style Designer. There you format your text under "Colors" and "Fonts", including link properties. However, this will only work if you add text to a Text Widget without formatting size etc. by using the Text Editing Toolbar. Try it out with a new Text Widget. Just add text and a link. Then open the Style Designer which will show you a preview of your page while you set things. Then set up your paragraph font size, and your link font size, as well as other properties like colour, underline, etc. Once you got familiar with it, you can redo your existing Text Widgets.

If you're trying to create a link using your own HTML, and you want to create a link to a page called MyPage, type the following:
jump to <a href="MyPage">My Page</a>
Don't call it MyPage.php. You can apply styling for color, no underline etc.
