Hi Alex,

I have copied froma post where ed has described a process for favicons that will cross browsers. Different browsers have different outcomes with favicons.

Good Luck

The built in favicon generator in the site builder presently only supports the Firefox browser. That's why you may not be able to see your favicon in IE or another browser.Here is a cross browser code for favicons. I have used it for some time myself...

I am presently using this code on my site and as you see it is cross browser compatible... http://honeybearplayhomes.synthasite....

1) Upload your favicon to your file manager. (If you already created one with the built in generator then you may not need to make another as it is already in your file manager.)

Edit the following code as follows...
1) You just need to substitute "YOURSITEHERE" in the code below with your site name
2) Chage the "favicon" to your favicon name in the code
3) Highlight the code between the <!-- & --> and copy
4) Open a HTML widget on your page in your editor and paste into it the code you have created
5) Update your site

<!--

<!--

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://YOURSITEHERE.synthasite.com/re...>

-->

Here is an easy favicon generator if you wish to make one from an image.

Happy site building

Alex,

has to be an "*.ico" file for this script to work

use the little generator I linked to in the bottom of the previous post to create it

Alex - you have to use the published location of the .ico file
AND
remove the link from the editor sidebar -

the published loctaion of the file is http:// comedy-classics/resources/FILENAME.ico

also its VERY important that you clear the 'favorite icon' field in the content sidebar. If you have a favicon in the editor this code will not work.

Hi Alex,

looks as if you've twisted the order of the code a bit. Try it again

www.favicon.cc can help or just make an icon that is 16x16. Save it in the root directory of your site as 'favicon.ico'.

Then type the following inside the '< head >' tag:

<!--
<link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>
-->

Done! :D

I did all the instructions and have a favicon but it is not working in my yola site. Here is my code:

<!--
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://appleandivy.com/resources/favi...>
-->

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can have this work?

You have to make sure that you are placing the image (icon) in your root directory of the site. Also make sure that the code is written within the tag.

ie:

< html...>
< title >
< head >
< link rel="icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
< link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
< /head >
< body >
...
< /body >
< /html >

The last thing to do is to remove the '<!--' and '-->' as it comments out the code so the browser will ignore that command.

Good luck!

Hi Rebecca

I think the problem may be that you're including the <!-- and -->. Please do not include these as these stop the code from being interpreted.

Try removing them and republishing your site.

Please let me know if you have any further trouble with this.
