CSS coding question

I have changed my banner on my website, but cannot seem to change the Header (or background) behind the banner. As my banner is smaller than the original, the header looks kind of dumb.

What CSS coding can I use to remove or change size & color of my existing header? (background behind my banner)

Also, what happens if I make a mistake and my website "breaks"? How can I "backup" my own website so it can be restored or uploaded back?

Thank You

I figured out how to remove the header background. It was a background image. In my CSS I changed background to none, and the background colored bars were gone!

Another question, If I now want to put in my own background colors, say called, bckgrnd.png

What would the coding be in CSS to point to this file (uploaded to my site)?

And how do I tell CSS to continue the background for the length of the page?

Thank You

Hello Marilyn,

Many of the templates are custom designed so it's not really reliable to give you a single piece of code to do this.

What I suggest is to locate the original code that you removed with the banner image therein and simply substitute your own image for this ( You will need to change the location and file name of your customised replacement). You will also need to make very sure that the new image is identical in canvas size to the original because it is not trimmed by the code and from a very practical perspective, can't be adjusted after placement.

If you have problems or want clarification please leave a follow up here.

The general background can be easily changed to either an image based ( this can be a single large image or a repeating tile image used for patterned backgrounds) or a single colour background.by:

Style>Edit Background and just follow the options offered.
