What have past web store owners done to improve conversion rates? I have had 80 unique visitors a day for the past week and no sales still! I read a ton of stuff on improving appearance of the site to get more bites & followed their advice. What else can I do? Please take a look: www.fitgirlgear.com

Hi Daria

Something you can try, is to promote your site using SEO.

We have a great online tutorial that may be helpful to you: Promote Your Site.

It will be interesting to hear what other online store owners have to say about this as well.

Good luck!

I just read through this new tutorial. I am an advanced user and have already done all of the above... Anything else? Anything more specific to my site?

Hi Daria,

Your site is really cute, so for starters, you can submit it to support@yola.com for consideration in the Featured Site of the Week blog series!

I also see your Facebook fans are still quite low at only 21 likes, so it looks like you really need to get out there and promote your site more on the social networks. Have you considered running a promotion or contest via Facebook or Twitter? There was a cool suggestion for a contest chronicled in this Kissmetrics blog post. You might find something similar will work to generate interest in your site. One of your jumpsuits would make a fantastic prize!

Great feedback! I will look into a contest for sure! Also, I still have to use my facebook ad credit that Yola gave me, so hopefully that will generate some more likes! By the way, any advice on the best TIME to run a facebook ad?

Hi, Daria,

Cute site! A couple suggestions: Have the picture on the home page go to the 3 separate sections Tops, Bottoms and Jumpsuits. This saves the customer a couple clicks. Also, have a call to action on each picture such as: Shop Now or Buy Now. You can either have three separate pictures that link to the sections (easiest) or use an image map: http://www.image-maps.com/

Also, put your newsletter signup on the home page. Someone may not be ready to buy but if you can contact them, they may buy later. Good luck!

Targeting plays a huge part in conversions also....I would see what search queries are getting people to your site.....You can do this using your Webmaster Tools in Google....You could be showing up in a number of searches that are not all that related .....If that is happening then a number of visits are from people that were not really looking for what you are offering but curious enough to stop by.
