Needs to be a way to copy a widget and its contents, to them paste as new. Then one can edit the new info and the widgets will be exactly the same size and format. If this can be done already, tell me how!

Hi Kent,
Are you wanting to copy them from page to page? You can do this using the Save As feature. With the Save As feature you can create a duplicate page as the one you are on.

Can you tell us more about what widgets you would like to copy and paste and possibly we can give you some ideas.

I would like to paste the same widget and its contents on more than one page. Not copy the entire page, but just that widget. For example, my donation buttons. They need to be in more than one place. I have to upload the image, and paste the URL, and add the text, every time.

No you don't have to upload the image all the time, all you have to do is click "Choose from file manager" when the dialog appears.

Well... you can copy the contents using the copy and paste HTML option. Go into the HTML and copy it and paste it into the new page. However, this doesn't copy the size of the widget if you're using a column divider, you'll have to resize this yourself. To get it accurate, in some circumstances, you might be able to use the margin sizing feature by clicking in a widget and on the properties menu of the text widget is a margin sizing option. It may be a pain, but if these options aren't good enough, you can always save page as and delete the widgets you don't wish to have.

This is a great idea and should be considered. For example: I have up to six pages or more on a given subject and I would like to have page number links at the bottom of each page. So on a six page subject, I would have the other five pages shown that would be linked so a visitor could go forward or backwards if needed. I could simply make five different groupings of links and then it would simply be a matter of copy and pasting. Imagine how long it would take to do each by hand for a few hundred pages! In addition to this....what if a few more pages were added at a later date....I would have to start from scratch!

I have built several websites in the past and this matter went fairly quickly by being able to copy and paste, even if I did have to relink the page buttons.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for letting us know this is something you would like to see incorporated into the Yola Sitebuilder. I'm sorry we don't have the feature right now to copy widgets, possibly in the future this is something we will be able to consider.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hello, I am new to the site and am wondering what the best way to copy and paste a widget is. For example I am creating a list of crew members and want to include a photo and blurb about them. I would like to get the picture/text layout done once, then copy and paste it for each member. That way I can just update the text and pictures, but not have to create the division, text widget, picture widget, etc for the 30 people in my crew. How can I do this? My plan is to have them stacked on top of each other 5 to page. I would do it in the html manager, but the editor only lets me look at the code, not change it. Please help as there must be a way to accomplish this easily. Thanks!

Hi Joezohar,

We don't have a facility where you can copy and paste widgets. What I suggest is use a Text Widget to set up your blurb and text as this provides a Text Wrap option (this is easier than trying to use Picture Widgets and Text Widgets). You will need to use the Column Divider Widget if you wish to set this up in a row.

You can also click on the HTML Button on the Text Editing Toolbar and copy the codes (once you've set it up the way you want) and then paste the code into a new Text Widget via the HTML button. Then, you can replace the text and picture as needed but the layout should hopefully remain the same.

I hope that helps!

I would also like to see this feature, it would be great to be able to copy and paste widgets especially the custom panels. I have over 1000 pages like this one http://skyidents.com/----tv3-city-ide... it contains a video and a 'back' link. I wish to upgrade all these pages with custom panels to neaten it up a bit like this completed page http://skyidents.com/-------e4-loadin... This takes about 5 minutes editing the new custom panels for each page. If I was able to copy and paste the custom panels to each page and drop the back link and video it would speed up the project immensely. Without a new copy and paste feature I don't think I will ever be able to complete this project which is a pitty because my site is falling behind similar graphic websites which use other providers than yola which allow to copy and paste.

It would be great if there was an "Apply to All Pages" option for the widgets instead of having a feature of copying and pasting widgets.

The only way around this for me right now is saving the images the exact size I want them so there is no need for resizing in the widget. It is a little time consuming but it provides the consistency I am looking for.

I think this shows how little Yola seems to have developed over the years - 6 years ago people were asking for the ability to copy and paste widgets and still such a basic function is not available. The website builder is creaking a bit now and I am only staying on Yola because of the upheaval of moving elsewhere.

When I build my pages for a cookery school, a lot of the classes are similar and we have many classes listed on one page. If I could copy the widget for one class, paste it lower down the page and change some of the details then i would save myself hours of work. Instead I have to laboriously do the same actions, putting widgets within widgets, adjusting the column divider, changing margins to recreate something I have already done literally hundreds of times before. The 'Save Page As' feature is useful, but no good for just adding similar widgets to an existing page. If I'm doing it wrong and there's an easier way of working, please let me know!

Hi Phillip,

We understand how frustrating it is when requested features go long periods without being implemented. Sometimes this is because the requests are out of line with our objectives and in other cases they simply aren't prioritized due to other projects we're working on. As such, we disagree that this is due to us not developing over the years. To the contrary, our Sitebuilder is constantly evolving. Head here for a brief summary of some of our developments last year.

We do recognize that this would make some aspects of page creation faster for the occasions when duplicating a page doesn't meet your needs. I don't think you are doing anything wrong at all but I did want to mention our preset feature in the Custom Panel widget in case you are not already using it as it might help make page set up a bit faster for you.

Hi Laura - do you think it would be possible to add the preset feature (from the custom panel widget) to the line widget?  That could certainly solve some part of the copy/paste desire when making style changes...then when I want to change all my line color/size/style options on my divider lines I could just click the custom preset

Hello Caitlin,

This is a great suggestion and I can see how this would be a very handy feature. I'll be happy to pass this idea along to our Product Team to take under consideration. Thanks so much for sharing this.
