Hi there,

I purchased domain from Yola and initially designed and published website via Yola Web Builder - for the website www.aberdeensbestcurry.co.uk

However, an independent web designer wanted to re-design the website not using Yola's web builder.

I want to change the website to how it was with Yola.

The designer has changed the settings, how do I change the setting to how it was and re-publish as a Yola website.

Thanks

Simon

Hello Simon,

Gorgeous looking site. If you can duplicate this on Yola you can certainly ask for consideration for your site to be showcased.

It seems that the domain is either hosted or pointed to another host, so you will need to bring it back to Yolas hosting.

In the meantime you can create/develop your Yola built site in the site builder and publish it to your domain when ready. This strategy will offer continuity whereas pulling it down while you are developing may have a negative effect in your search engine rankings. (Depends on the time it takes you to get as good a site published)

If this domain was purchased under the GBBO program it may have a different ip destination to standard domains and would need to be directed by Yola CS

The domain was purchased a few months ago directly from Yola.

Can I get specific instructions on how I reset the settings.

The Yola website is nearly ready, so there would be now downtime - as long as it is instantly published.

Hi Simon,

As mentioned if it was purchased through the GBBO program through Yola it may be a special direction. You are best to wait for Yola CS on this I think.

Hi Sumon,

Aberdeensbestcurry.co.uk is no longer hosted with us, it was transferred away to another registrar and cannot be transferred back. That said, you can point it back to us so that you can publish your Yola site to it by creating two A records pointing to 184.72.229.176.

Hi Laura,

What I would I call the name on the server for 1 and 2?

Also, what are the disadvantages of having it redirected to Yola compared to having it hosted where it is?

I did not realise, that it was transferred away, I had a web guy that was dealing with my site that must've done this - can I transfer it back? Can the web guy do anything to stop the site from publishing if I redirect it back to Yola.

Sorry for the question!

Thanks Sumon

Hi Sumon,

Co.uk domains cannot be transferred back once they are transferred away from Yola as I mentioned above. Regarding your domain account settings about how to name it, typically it's www and your domain and just your domain, but that can vary by web host so you will need to talk to your current registrar if that doesn't work for you. I'm afraid I really can't speculate on what your web designer can or can't as I have no way of knowing if he has access to your account. You can always reset your passwords to protect your account.
