Design Reviews Please...

Can I have some people review my sites design (not so much the content). I have recently re-designed my site from: www.shamrockandrambler.co.uk to www.journee.co.uk . This was inspired by the CSS editor (which I feel is amazing!). Any comments are welcome - any suggestions to improve the design. The new site only has the Home page but, the menu does have the links in place for the pages that are going to be inserted.

Thanks,

Andi

Hi, Andi,

Really nice work!! I love the drop down menu--one of the nicest I've seen. The only picky thing I have is the footer stuff (twitter, fb, etc.) is half on and half off the page and mangopearmedia is split up. Glad you're enjoying the CSS!

Thank you Diane, the AddThis banner and Mangopear Media stuff should be completly under but in some browsers this is not the case. The Mangopear Media link being on another line is because of the CSS in the Menu.

The CSS editor is truly amazing and I could not have done it without it!

Hi Andi

Your site is very awesome!! I love the drop-down menu also, it is the best I've ever seen too! In my browser (Google Chrome) the AddThis buttons are in the correct place. And in Firefox it looks the same to me, and I am pretty sure Yola employees use Firefox too:

Safari:

Google Chrome:

You site looks awesome! Keep up the FANTASTIC work!!

Sincerely,
Nathan

Thank you for the feedback Nathan, I have moved the menu so that it's in the Content area, for added stability.

The menu in IE6 has some issues but I am fixing those. This new website should be launched within the month.

I have found that for some reason, the margins are different for different browsers, it would be so much simpler if everyone used Chrome :) It would make my job much easier!!!

Once again, thank you for taking the time to look at my site and I welcome the feedback!

One universal browser would be nice! Here's what I'm seeing for the footer in Firefox 3.6.14:

Media goes to a second line for some reason.

that will be because the font has changed from Gill Sans MT to Arial and that increases the size of the font because Arial is a larger font than Gill sans MT. This, coupled with the size of the content area means that this will happen.

I have changed the footer - www.journee.co.uk/times-master.php

Thanks guys for the screenshots, they really do help. I have been testing using CrossBrowser tests to determine what happens to the site on different OS' and different browsers - for instance, Windows (98, XP SP2 and SP3, Vista and 7), Mac OS 10 and the iPad and iPhone, with all of their compatible browsers. It is very time consuming but should make the site better in the long run!

No problem, Andi :) When I get my iPhone, I will be sure to check out your site on it!

Hey guys! I am so sorry for not responding. I am not getting any email notifications at all! I rely on notifications because I don't know when someone replied, are you guys all getting notifications?

I just found out that Diane posted that reply and Andi posted 2 replies. Are the GS Email Notifications down?

Andi, don't worry about IE 6! Yola doesn't even allow IE 6 users anymore. If you go to www.yola.com in IE 6, you get redirected to "Internet Explorer 6 has gone the way of the dodo" Why should anyone use IE 6 anymore? I suggest IE 9 because it has CSS3. The only IE browser compatible with my new site that I will be releasing soon is IE 9.

Thanks!
Nathan
